quick question(s) about engine & trans removal
car is a 2001 clk 55
transmission is junk
docs I read say drop entire assy via K-member
Issue is with the constraints we are working with we cannot get the necessary height to go that route.
would the following plan work?
-remove trans mounts/cross member
-loosen bell housing bolts
-remove top bolts for engine mounts but do not remove
-raise engine with axis point being in the very front
-remove bellhousing bolts and take trans by itself out through bottom
Next, in regards to the spline alignment during merge procedure proves to be too difficult with engine in car; can the engine by itself be massaged out through the top?
Thanks in advance!
