Benz or Merc. Slang

Am in argument with co-worker. I believe the popular slang is "Benz" for Mercedes. Anyone have any official information pertaining to abbreviation for Mercedes? Thanks.

Don't think I know anyone who would refer to one as a Benz. Merc would be the most common shortening if you discount Mercedes as being shortened as that would be by far the clear winner.

If someone used Benz I'd immediate think they were calling for the butler. to bring the car around Very pompous IMO.
