2020 GLE 300d
Side windows replacement (normal vs laminated)

Hello All,

I placed an order in the UK for the new GLE a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the acoustic package is not available in the UK.

Therefore, though I know that the GLE cabin is very quiet and there is some controversy about this package (useful or not that's the question!), I'm considering replacing my side windows by laminated safety glass.

Have you already done this? If so, what was the procedure (through a MB dealer? a repair glass company? else?)? And how much did it cost you?

Additional question: my understanding is that, at least for the GLE, the acousting package, according to MB, "includes laminated safety glass with a sound and infrared absorbing membrane, as well as numerous additional insulation measures right up to special tyres. These have a foam layer on the inside of the tread which absorbs low-frequency noises generated within the tyre itself, thereby noticeably improving noise comfort." I was wondering if, in the countries where you cannot order the acoustic package, some part of the acoustic package is not included in the basic price. For sure, in the UK, the GLE is delivered with "tyres with noise-reducing foam absorber". Therefore, I was wondering if, in these countries, the "numerous additional insulation measures" are not included in the basic price too! Any thoughts?
