Mercedes me Connect app is not connecting to vehicle

It hasn't connected for about 2 months. I did contact MB help about 10 days ago and was told to delete the app and reload it. I did that a few times and it was no help. I told them that and have not gotten a reply. Vehicle is 2019 GLC300. iPhone is 5S. iOS is ver 12.4.

Thanks for any thoughts.

App store info says it works on ver 12 or later.

I am on ver 12 because my 5S phone is old and Apple stopped providing full support. It does get security updates.

Unfortunately, what you are experiencing is the norm for the Mercedes Me app. It is an appallingly poor bit of software engineering and the Customer Support team for it is laughably incompetent. In the three years that I had it set up for my car, the app was either fully or partially dysfunctional for most of the time. When the "complimentary" mBrace period ended, they contacted me repeatedly to have me start paying for it; I declined and deleted the app from my phone. It's complete trash.

I find it all a bit confusing. I have two Me apps, one for the 2018 and another for the 2020 model. As for desk top version, forget it. Thats even more cumbersome, windows after windows.

The Mercedes me connect app has recently received a major update in the USA after it's been rolled out in Europe before. Did it not connect already before the update, or did this issue start with the updated app? The new app hasn't been out for 2 months yet, though. Do you have the new app installed? It's version 3.0.0. The new app has periodically not connected for me, but in general it's been working quite well. Better than the old app. I think your GLC being a 2019 still has an older COMAND system, right? Only 2020+ have MBUX. I thought Mercedes me connect was only for vehicles with at least NTG 5.5. Yours is still NTG 5.1 or something like that. Older cars use a different app just called Mercedes Me.

Yes, I am using v 3.0.0 of Mercedes Me Connect app. The app had been operating fine before the update. I used it only occasionally to remote start the car. Since it stopped working I have uninstalled and reinstalled it at least twice.

In that case I suspect the new app and your older version of COMAND are not getting along. Maybe a bug in the app, or your car may need a software update. I'm using it with my '19 C63S which has the latest NTG 5.5 COMAND system with over-the-air updates. I wouldn't put it past them that they may have overlooked the fact that some 2019 models don't have at least the latest COMAND system.

I don't think I have COMAND. I have Audio 20 Standard Radio code 522 and an option called SD-Card Navigation Pre-wiring code 355.

Well, that's a whole new story then. I was under the impression that the Mercedes me online services only work with COMAND, but I guess I was wrong. I suppose remote start and such doesn't really need COMAND.

Oh, one more thought. Assuming this is all supposed to be working with your hardware, have you verified in the app that the corresponding services are available and activated? Tap your car in the menu and then Manage Services.

I think SuperSwiss may have good advice... Getting to this screen is not intuitive, however. These are the steps I used to de-activate and re-activate my malfunctioning Remote Start:
  1. Open the Mercedes Me Connect App
  2. Open the “Garage” where you can choose the “Active Vehicle” (menu icon upper left, then touch the currently active car)
  3. Click “Manage Services”
  4. Deactivate “Remote Engine Start”
  5. Wait a minute
  6. Reactivate “Remote Engine Start”

I followed your guidance and clicked the blue button to deactivate Remote Engine Start. The blue went away and it reads "Deactivation in progress..." but nothing else has happened. I also tried to deactivate "Remote Door locking and unlocking". Same actions - blue goes away and wording added "Deactivation in progress..."

I then deleted and reloaded the app. No change - still says deactivation in progress for both functions.

I continue to think that the app and car are not connecting. I will next try to "remove vehicle".

Keep in mind that if you remove the vehicle and add it back, you'll have to visit a dealership to reactivate it. I suppose it can't get worse, but just to be aware that you can't just add a vehicle to the account, otherwise anybody could just add a random VIN and start messing with somebody's car.

Hello,

Please allow me to step in. The same happened to me when I accidentally deleted the 'Programming and Charging settings' (I have the plug-in-hybrid) and Geofencing by mistake and 'deactivation in progress...' popped up. The matter was rectified when contact was resumed between my mobile and the vehicle when the icon 'activate' was no longer greyed out and I re-activated both services. No, do not resort to remove the vehicle.

Fred, reading back to your original comment, may I also suggest that you try installing the mobile app on a friend’s newer iPhone. You shouldn’t need any new authorizations from the dealer to just add another instance of the app, because you are still logging in under your proper login. If it works on a newer iPhone with the latest OS then you know that the problem is your older iPhone and its older operating system. When the test is concluded, just delete the app from your friend’s iPhone. I also agree it would be unwise to delete the vehicle.

FINALLY!!!

Called the Service manager at AMG Sydney Mascot. Went in and it literally took 10 mins to do the job! Nothing worst that getting some Fxcken idiot that doesn't know how to do his job!

My App controls pretty much every setting in the car.

I suspect you'll need to go to Mercedes to reactivate the app-car pairing.

I now have a 2020 SE iphone.. No better
I did delete the vehicle from the app. I did not have to go to a dealer to get the vehicle back on the app. But I did have to call MB to get it back on. I have had two calls with MB. The one today took over 30 minutes and included me emailing her screen shots of what my app was showing. She said she will refer my case to their technical unit. I think she now realizes that the vehicle and phone app don't recognize each other. MB connect is not connecting.

You will likely find yourself stuck in this "we will escalate your case to technical support" loop indefinitely; they fed me this line for three years, until the complimentary use period expired. The software is crap and the support is a joke.

Connect me app is crap

Recently bought a 2022 GLB230. Never have I ever hated a vehicle so much. The fuel door randomly opens as I drive down the road. Then when I need gas, it gets stuck and won't open.
yesterday I used the app to lock my vehicle. Then when I tried unlocking with the app, it wouldn't work.called customer service and they gave me a few troubleshooting options, which none worked. Then called them back to order roadside assistance. Was initially told around 10pm it would be 10-15mintes and I would get a call from a service agency in the area. At nearly 2am, got a call from the mercedes customer service asking if I still needed assistance????? No, it magically fixed itself here in make-believe world! Was then texted at 6am that the service agency would arrive in an hour. At 7:15am received a call from mercedes stating they would arrive in 35 minutes. After a half hour received a call from service agency again asking of I still needed assistance.........and that he would arrive in 25 minutes. Luckily I was at my daughter's house or I would have been stranded an hour away from home! Very frustrating to say the least!

where you able to get your car unlocked? My car won’t unlock. I’m used to leaving the keys in when going out for a hike and this time the car won’t open. They send me a lockout technician and she damages my window seal, I immediately told her to stop. I’m in desperate need to get this fix or else I would have to pay a locksmith to mess with the keyhole and open it that way. Locksmith is going to charge me $250, and that might not work either. When I use the app to open the car it says that there’s an issue in their end but they can’t figure what the heck is wrong. It’s so frustrating. Anyone have any suggestions. I have a 2018 C300

i have cla sb ,mercedes me app worked well for first year ,it lost 2 most important items for me,IS MY CAR LOCKED ,ARE WINDOWS SHUT completely disapeared on app ,now it does not functioned at all ,removed app reinstalled it many times ,it dont work , checked wifi on hotspot on bluetooth on car & phone ,brand new samsung s23 ultra ,it dont work , numerouse conversations emails with mercedes connect. They ask same questions several times as if each time its first time ive contacted them, NO SOLUTIONS GIVEN,sometimes reply in german , useless of no help, i believe they have removed app use even though free for 3 years or its nakkered app. It goes into dealership in months time to fix ,only time they could see the car, i dont think they will fix it ??. Me ive given up after 3 months spending time on it, it dont work anymore ,i will never have another mercedes car ,looks posh on drive ,its too small poor backup from mercedes , no m9re mercs for me .

hello, I have been having the same issue since March 24 of this year. All of my data on the Mercedes Me Connect is dated on 24 March. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled several times. They basically said that the issue is beyond the Mercedes me advisors capabilities and that they have technicians working on the solution. I did ask if I was the only person who was having this issue and they said no.. At this point I was in my free trial for one year that expires next month but they said they were grandfathered me back in, so I’m assuming if you’re paying for the services, you may be able to be reimbursed or extended due to you, not being able to utilize the services.
