HIDs in a Halogen Assembly?

I dont want to change my halogen lights into the clear bi-xenons so what OEM HID kit will fit in a '02 C230K 2door? Where would i put the 2 boxes? *balast and ignitor i believe thats what they are*Also is putting an HID safe to be installed in a Halogen light assembly? What Kelvin would be the bluest i can get?

You want a universal H7 kit. You can safely put HIDs in a halogen assembly, but the light pattern will not be correct and it will glare heavily into the eyes of oncoming motorists. If you live in CA be prepared to get a ticket, especially considering that HID retrofit kits have been made illegal.

If you want blue then 7000k would probably be the bluest, any higher and it will just be purple. Keep in mind that the higher the Kelvin rating, the less actual light output you will get. The brightest/whitest is OEM 4300k.

How much do these kits run? Have you ever gotten a ticket for yours?

They typically run anywhere between $350-500 depending on where you get them. I've never gotten a ticket because I have OEM HID assemblies. I have aftermarket HID upgrades in my high beams, but I haven't gotten a ticket for those cause I don't drive around with those on all the time.

I am working on converting a set of CLK headlights and installing Bixenon projectors into them. This would be the ideal way. Most $$$ way too.

There's a member who did that using a set of 215 CL bixenon projectors. It was a good idea but his didn't turn out quite perfect. Good luck, it would be nice to see a perfect set ;0)

I will let you know how they turn out. But I'd rather see your girl's headlights. j/p.

My 430 had a "Serious Vision" conversion that was 5000K and worked great (no tickets, they don't know if it's OEM or not). Never had a problem with pi$$ing off other drivers. IMO brighter than the OEM HID's in my 55 as well. In fact, I'm looking for some 5000K HID bulbs for the 55 to match the conversion in the high beams. It's just a little "bluer" but looks brighter and whiter than the OEM 4100-4300K. Josh is correct. The higher the temp, the less light.
