"Bluetooth Audio Device Paused"

The best way is to learn to work around the system imperfections because the car can not adapt to you, so you best adapt to it...

There are a few ways to work around the limits of the BT features:
A - While your phone is connected to your car over BT, you need to keep the car BT input activated to hear any of the phone's audio output, video track in your case.
B - If you don't like that way, you can setup your phone BT connection such that "audio media" is disabled and only keep "Phone" as active profile option - In that case, no more BT music, only phone calls!!
C - Or you can temporarily disable phone BT then hopefully reconnect it afterwards for calls.
BT profile options showing Media Audio toggle
The key here is to recognize that when your phone is normally setup to send "all audio" out over BT, the car audio must be in "BT Input" to hear the phone through the car... You can't be listening to radio and hope BT Audio to mix over radio like phone calls do.
What is missing here is the ability for the phone to recognize the car BT audio input is not activated and not send out any BT audio in that condition.

On iPhones, you can select a "device type" for each connection profile. Dig in the Apple support documentation to match your preferences.
The Android being self-explanatory, I can't pick merky iOS options.
