Tint Guy Broke my key.. Halp? GLB 250 22

Hey guys, I’ve been posting a lot but it’s been very helpful with all of the responses from everyone.

But you’ve heard it correct. I was getting my car tinted and the tint person drove off with my key on the windshield and found it a mile down the road, broken. I feel bad because it’s an honest mistake.

MB wants 800+ for a new key. I didn’t purchase warranty for this initially. Can this be purchased after he fact? I’m trying to help this guy as best as I can.

Also, I didn’t purchase the tire warranty (wish I did) but I’m told they have a 3rd party warranty that acts similar but I have to submit a claim if something were to happen. Does anyone have experience with this as well?

Why was the tint guy driving it in the first place? Tint guy should have it covered right?? Yeah it sux for tint guy, but it seems tint guy is responsible. This is merely my opinion and will probably get disagreed with by other members.
Why are you trying to help tint guy out? Did tint guy even step up and say 'yeah, I fawked up and will get you a new key'. What would happen if the roles were reversed?

Long story short.. He didn't end up tinting my car and drove off with it on his windshield. He offered, but I feel bad because it was an honest mistake.

Tint dealer should be insured. File a comprehensive loss with your insurer and they'll subrogate the tint dealer's insurer.
