Stripped Threads, Alternator Bolt (M112)

Thinking this is the appropriate forum: I have a stripped thread on the upper alternator screw (bolt) for my M112, which torques at 40Nm.

Stripped threads, damage is visible. There is plenty of room to drill thru and use a longer bolt/nut to secure the alternator.

Is this a good candidate for:

a. A helicoil
b. Drill thru and fasten a longer bolt with a serrated or fiber-insert nut, or
c. Suggestions, please.

Yes, I could replace the timing cover, gaining a 'new' tapped hole - but that is a big time chore.

Situation that helicoil was made for. Good luck.
