Block Heater

I've been thinking of installing a block heater on my 2004 C320 4Matic.
Is this difficult for a home-mechanic?
I think that in-line circulating coolant heaters are the dealer installed style. They were on our 01 M-Class. I've heard that the 320 4Matic installation is "tight".
Are pan heaters an option?
Thanks
Pete

Pete, After living in Fairbanks for 10 year I know the block heater is the best. But not knowing your car all I can say is Circulating heaters, Dip stick heaters etc all work ok but not as well or safly as the block heater. Or you could do like me and move to Arizona.

RCS - The thought of moving to the sunny south has crossed my mind!
I guess that I'm leaning toward the dealer installed....
Thanks
Pete
