Hi Guys I currently own a c63 as named in the title, Went for car wash initially and the very minute I drove away I could smell a electrical smell I turned off the cabin AC and the smell went away, Turned the AC back on again the smell was coming through again (Electrical smell) I thought maybe water had ingress into the rear boot as my speakers were all crackling, I checked and the boot/trunk was dry along with the amp. The following day I went for a hard drive in sport plus as I did a kick down the car went straight to misfire and died on power, I pulled over to restart the car but still the same and pulled over again when I turned it off the car wouldn't start at all, when I opened the hood there was smoke coming from 1 blow coil on the left hand side ( if your looking at it) 2nd one in was blown (picture attached) 3rd one was black on top and had melted the airbox. Car wouldn't turn over just give ignition.
Garage tested alternator claimed it's fine.
Fault codes attached
Earth and relays were all fine
No harness wear
Garage cloned the ecu (2nd hand) and replaced it, They started the car it ran but was misfiring (they changed the 2nd coil not the third) they turned it off and again the car wouldn't restart the garage is claiming again the ECU has burnt out and I am back to square one.
its worth nothing the whole left bank ignition coils were all slightly discolored bar the ones that burnt of course.
I would really appreciate if a tech or someone who has had the same experience could properly advise, I feel like the garage may have missed a crucial step as the ECU shouldn't burn out the second time.
