W212 Codings

Hello

1. Car "welcome lights" does not turn on when unlocking car in daylight. Lights up only when dark outside. My previous mercedes lighted up every time when unlocking.
I believe its not hard to code? I know I need to change some parameters in "Front SAM module" but which one, could someone help me? I have XPRO5 diagnostics that has coding ability.
2. Is it possible to code side mirror puddle lights to light up when pulling to Reverse gear? Would be very thankful for this information also. Is it in front sam or in door modules... ?

If you want a quick workaround in the meantime while you wait for others to chime in, you could just cover the ambient light sensor inside the vehicle. I am not sure if the puddle lights also turn on in the dark in reverse. I seen W213 s turning on puddle lights in the dark in reverse not sure if the W212 does the same.

Thanks thats clever. I will give it a try tomorrow. Where is that sensor located? Then it lights up low beam xenons when driving doesnt it?

RECODING SAM FEATURES

The only way to find out what possibilities are available is to dig-in your chassis options.

What options are exposed is limited by the module current firmware level that matches interoperability. Meaning don't rush at upgrading code to realize module no longer operate with your chassis.

Save a backup before experimenting options. (Beware unsuported features may brick your SAM VIP module... no-start).

Later years support more advanced features.
Expect limitations.

Yes. That is the point of the light sensor, it turns on the instrument cluster lights as well. In some countries, it is mandated to turn on the low beams when it is dark via sensor, not sure if it applies to you, if not you could probably switch it to off with the turn knob.

Forgot to answer the sensor location, it is usally top centre of the windshield on some cars, others are on top of the dash. For vehicles with it on the top windshield and covered, can use dark tape I guess outside the vehicle, other vehicles just tape something on top of the sensor on the dash.
