Parts for Trans- Where Do They Go? W210

I'm going to have the tranny fluid changed on my 98 E320. Awhile back someone recommended these parts be replaced at the same time:

There are a few caps that cover valves in the transmission to protect it from 'swarf' which is loose metal particles etc in the fluid. Also MB wants a special magnet installed as well to attract metal particles.
small cap 140-271-08-82 ($3.03)
large cap 140-271-07-82 ($3.03)
magnetic pad 220-271-00-98 ($3.85)

Can anyone give me an idea where these parts get installed? Presumably the cover pan has to be removed to get at these parts.

Thanks.

You must remove the valve body. The caps go on top of the valve body solenoids.

Remove valve body- big job?

Would a regular mech. be able to do this or is it something for a tranny guy? Thanks again.

Any MB tech should be able to easily perform a valve body R&R on a 722.6 as they are very simple to work with as far as that goes. I can do it in about 10 minutes.
