Motor oil recomendation on 58k sl600
Just wonder what motol oil (brand and weight, sintetic or not)would you use on 58k mls sl600.
So far I've been using Mobil1 10w-30w,is it time to switch to 20w-50w?
That's about it!

Type of Oil
Here in Houston Texas we use Castrol 20/50 on most imports. We also use Mobil 1 as are choice for Synthetics.
Been awhile since I did an oil change on a mercedes SL 600. I do know the oil filter is a pain to get to because the Airflow meter needs to be taken out in order to reach it and the car taking between 10 1/2 to 11 gts of oil.

1995 SL 320
oil for SL320 500 and 600
Ewing Autohaus in Plano uses Mobil 20W50 when they do an oil change.Texas has mostly average temperatures with 4 hot months in the summer. So this seems to be a good viscosity for our climate. If you change your oil and filter every 5000 miles then this is fine.If I was doing it every 10,000 miles I might opt out for Mobil One synthetic or Castrol Syntec 20W50

58K miles is still a young engine. You bearing clearances should still be tight. I would stay with the MB recommended Mobile One for at least another 58K miles, then think of swithing to a heavier oil. Mobile One shouldn't loose it's viscosity in the hot Texas summer.
