price might be a little high. You could pick up an E55 for about the same money.

In your opinion, what would be an acceptable price?

2009 SLK 55 AMG
Hey,

The c55 is a beautiful car, but seriously what the guy said about $35,550 being too high is actually very true =/

c55's 06's in the 18kmi~23kmi range can be had for as low as 22~24k...

Yours has the nav/sirius option, but it's not something that should cost 10,000+ more

Sorry dude.
We don't want to price your vehicle, but take this as a nudge in looking into craigslist / ebay / auction prices, then add like a few grand to that and see if you can get it.

E55's in the 35~50k mileage range can be had for 28~35k

Beautiful cars, horrendous depreciation.

Ask for high 20s, hopefully get mid 20s. Good luck!

Also, having seen some of these early model, high mileage E55s, some of them are truly in terrible condition, or at least, IMO not worth it (that's not to say there aren't some gems out there!).

Go to Carmax, find out what they will give you, then price the car $3-4k more. That should be the correct ballpark figure on the most you could ever get for the car.

There is a difference between finding one at Carmax, and having Carmax give you a quote. Either way, good luck with your sale. We tried giving advice to a guy with a C55 a couple weeks ago. We asked him to tell us what the car sold for. He said he had an offer and then disappeared. He claims he was offered $24k on trade. Good luck to you either way. Hopefully we are shocked at the sales price more than you are.

Looking for a C55 or CLK55
Very nice pics. Here in the SF Bay Area we see a few C55 come up for sale.
Low to mid $20K.

There was another member here who had the cleanest (if it was closer I would have jumped on it) C55 I have ever seen, was asking $27,900.

Yours is also very clean. Good luck

"MercedesTech" is talking about me, I didnt "dissapear" as he mentioned, guess I will chalk that up another grossly incorrect opinion of his. I sold the car today, it takes time to put together a deal, apparently he doesnt understand that, o well.....

I was putting together a deal while juggling 5 serious buyers. I sold the car early today from an out of state buyer even though MercedesTech in all his infinite selling advice and wisdom felt I couldnt get 24k from the BMW dealer. I got $27.5K for the car. As for some of these guys talking crack head prices like 21k for a C55, give it a rest would you?

Dont worry about E55 prices, they dont matter, thats like saying "I want an M3, but for a few dollars more could have an M5". Typically, if a guy wants an M3, he wants an M3, period, NOT and M5. Take it down a level, if someone is hunting down a Civic SI, yet someone kept pestering them about buying an Accord v6, it wouldnt make sense. If someone wants a C55, they will buy it! Its fairly rare, unique, and has a totally different asthetic appeal than an E55 does.....

I had 2 other buyers offering 27k, hopefully they see your post. Hope that gives you a ballpark figure.......Good luck with your sale!

I totally disagree.. anyone in their right mind would have to consider the price of an E55 if they are interested in a C55. The E is a hell of alot more car and many have upgraded from the C55 to the E55 so thats why you have to consider other cars when pricing your car.

I agree, the price of an E does not affect the price of a C, it's a personal preference.

This, of course, is coming from the two people who want to sell their C55 with as little loss as possible.

I personally think it has to be considered as I would much rather choose an E55 over a C55 as a buyer if they were somewhat close in the price, and everything else being the same.

But I am happy for you duvee that you still got a good price for your C55 considering how much you paid in the beginning and I wish you, jmarais, good luck on your sale too.

Andy and Kickr, I totally respect your opinion, and your statements do hold water. But, if your reasoning is solid, then no one would ever buy an E55, cuz anyone looking at an E55 should "step up" and shop for the S55 instead, thats also a lot of car for the money, and theres a whole gaggle of them on the market at or under $30k in the 2004-2005 year range. I guess each individual buyer has to draw the line somewhere, maybe there is an owner of a C230 stretching his/her budget to eek their way into a C55 (car payments considered, insurance, gas, upkeep, maintenance etc).
First thing that attracts me to a car is aesthetics. I do think the E55 is a fabulous car, personally I would never put one in my driveway, it seems to personify an older more mature image. Im looking hard at an SL550, but my BMW salesperson is all over me trying to move a 2009 Z4, anyway, im done with this subject, take care guys, and good luck with the sale!

Good luck with the sale...
I have a 2005 C55 with 29k miles and the 100k mile warranty. I love the car but would love to have an E55. If I could sell mine for $29k I would surely do that to buy the E55. My car is unmolested for the most part. It has 19inch wheels and window tint. That's all the mods...
The thing is that if I don't get a buyer to step up I am very OK with that. I love the C55 I would just like a bit more horsepower.

I was in the market for a C55....I started looking at the E55 for the heck of it. For just a little more money, you get a hell of a lot more car. I am now looking for an E55. I doubt anyone would pay anywhere close to $30k for a C55. Great car, but too close in price to the e55 monster.

Just my line of thinking and it may give away just how much I want to sell the C55. I look at the current offerings of C55s for sale and for good or bad they are all modded for the most part. This always raises questions about the Mods, the person who actually bolted on the mod and how the car was treated because of the mod. If a person was interested in buying into a car that is modded and they just want to race it or thrash it around without worry of potential resale, reliability or simple vehicle value then buy the one with the mods (providing they are all done correctly). I would prefer to have a car with 500+ horsepower but that's not what the C55 is (IMHO).
If you want that for a C55 then Hooleyboy (Mike) is the guy you want to talk to. Based on the information I have read about the car here it is simply magic. Having said that I am absolutely sure that even though Mike C55 IS probably the fastest C55 on the planet there are surely faster cars that Mikes.
I have bored you all with that to simply say this. A unmolested car has more value than a modded one (again IMHO). I have had Ferraris, Porsches and BMWs and it has always been that the non-modded car is of more value (for the most part).
