2006 Mercedes SL55 AMG with 030 Performance Package

I made a bunch of calls before I bought the car and also did some searches on MBworld. This confirmed that just the tensioner and idler pulley caused the noise. Both have been replaced with OEM parts and the noise is gone. The car also got a new MB battery, an A Service, and brake pads.
The car is now ready for someone to enjoy.

Yes, this car was a great buy. It went low for a reason. The S/C Tensioner Pulley and the dual idler pulley were both making pretty scary noises. It sounded like the motor was bad. The noises are caused by vibrations which resonate in the valve housing making it sound like the motor has an issue.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
EMoving,
not always, but you are dead on this time. There is a perceptiion among those not in the industry that you go to the auction, stand around with a bunch of other car enthusiasts, and watch cars go by every few minutes untiil you choose the most pristine one of the dozens that you are looking for. Then, after buying one at the MMR price, you get in it, run it thru the automatic car wash, and voila, beautiful car that you go and make $3/4 grand on.
As anyone in the business knows, nothing is further from the truth.
BTW, where is this car again? Left coast, right? I wonder if I could ride that until I find the car I'm looking for....it's taken the majority of the axxwhipping already, not too much farther to fall....
