F/S: Heavily Modified 2005 E55
Yes, I am testing the waters to sell my car.....Why, you ask? I thought you loved it so much people will say? Yes, I do love my car, but I have lately come to the conclusion that I may love it too much. I am tired of worrying about potholes, scratches, dings and curbrashes. I am tired of driving around the block several times of a restaurant just to avoid the valet. I am tired of being terrified if someone else (even a gf, a friend or a family member drive my car). What I want, is a car I just dont really care about that I dont constantly baby and protect from outside evil forces. So, I am testing the waters to see if people are interested.
My price, is $55k. Yes, that is high, but when I list out all the mods, you will see why. Is it negotiable? Of course, I'm not someone who is so blinded by my love for my own car that I refuse to reasonably negotiate. Am I offering test drives? Not unless you have a cashiers check for at least $30k and depending on how I feel, a check of any past criminal history.

Yep, unfortunately mods don't add any real value to the car. At the end of the day it's still an 05 with 30k. You may find the perfect buyer but I'd be really surprised if it went for over high 30s. Good luck.

Probably very true. I didnt put the mods on thinking they would add value, and with what I bought this car at, I could keep it for years to come and be quite fine with that.

Maybe Taking a Bus is the best alternative.
Just sell the Car for whatever you can get and take the bus.You can buy a lifetime ticket for public transportation and not worry about Valet, potholes, scratches etc.
I think it sounds stupid when someone says they want to get rid of something they so dearly love and put so much money into it,because of something that "might"happen to the Car.
Staying in doors is the best solution.
Sorry not trying to be an A** but maybe you should tell the true reason for wanting to sell the car.

Oh man, I just read the part where youo may do a criminal background check for a test drive. You must be a real weirdo. I sold cars at MAG in Dublin Ohio for years and I have never heard such a thing. Oh, and we sold Saleens, Porsche, Bently, Ferrari, Lotus and more. Criminal background check!

I'd be a buyer at $30k with you keeping all of the stereo stuff. I'm sure you could unload all of it separately for a few grand and I don't need all that. Serious cash buyer.
As far as the test drive part, I don't have a criminal record. My daily driver right now is a supercharged CTS-V...my weekend toy is a C6 Z06 with just shy of 600 rwhp, full suspension and HRE C20s. You don't have to worry about me being able to handle the modded E55.

Oh this made me laugh.
I sold a 2001 C5 with over $60K in mods. Blue book = $50K. Sale price = $52K and I was glad to get it.
The criminal background check was a particular hoot.

Yeah, I'd amend my post above and say i'd go $30k and you can keep the HRE P40s. I don't like the monoblocks on the E55 anyhow. You had a set of Monarchs a while back and also a set of 20" P40s, right? How about putting the Monarchs or even the stockers back on?
Let me know.

Thanks guys for all the comments. You are absolutely right, anyone that mods their car so heavily and expects to reap the money back in a sale price is out of their mind. But I did some of the math, and just put it out there. As I put in the other post, I put the criminal background check part in there because i am an individual selling a car and have known dudes to put ads in Auto trader and other postings, only to get robbed at the test drive. For example, i want to avoid the same problem that happened to these people...http://blogs.sfweekly.com/thesnitch/...nvasion_sf.php
Oh and to Emoving, thanks for standing out as a complete ****ing *******. i always wondered about when people said avoid MBWORLD who they spoke of...and I can now understand the types of folks they meant.
Oh, and the real reason I may be selling this car? Besides being tired of driving on San Diego's awful streets and worried about damaging my wheels, front lip or rear diffuser...because Ive recently looked into taking a job involving the prosecution of criminals, dont feel I want to drive this type of car (that stands out) everyday to and from the courthouse and bring unwanted attention to myself, especially from associates of the people I would be prosecuting.

For some people think you are trying to rip off for $55K, I think you should post in autotrader.com or cars.com that should help you to sell the car.

why dont you just say that it is time for the car to go and you are moving into bigger and hopefully better things? nothing wrong with not trying to sugarcoat it.
and i agree that you are looking at $32-35k max street money on the car. about 28k to the dealer. this is with the money for the mods.
