WTB: E55 AMG Wagon (I know it's a long shot)
#926
Geordie,
Welcome to the darkside (for those who don't know BimmerDawg, he has built/owned some of the most tastefully modded BMW's on the planet)
You don't want the car listed on Ebay, the seller is as shady as they come. Go read posts 765 and 782-788 talking about this car.
Good luck on the R63 search, that would be the ultimate family sleeper

- The "dealership" is a storefront with a 4 - 5 car garage out back with the cars crammed in there. I wasn't impressed by the conditions the cars were kept in.
- Someone a while ago mentioned that they couldn't understand why the dealer wouldn't give them the mileage at first. Well now i know. Probably because the dealer couldn't start the car up to get a reading. When i visited (after calling), the dealer was trying to hook a battery charger to the car (he didn't know where the battery(ies) were.
- We got it started and the car was throwing CELs all over the place. Only one headlight worked. This was all attributed to the fact that the battery needed charging
- "I've driven AMGs all my life and this turbo-charged car drives like new"
- The car needed a good detailing (minor) and had a few dings and scratches
- I've only ever had experiences with N/A vehicles, so not sure how healthy the supercharger was once we got it started and running (CELs were still on)
- He must have told me about 10 times that this was the only e55 on sale. Finally annoyed me so much i pulled out my phone/auto-trader app and showed him two other examples (at that time) that were also on sale. He then said that when he first got it "15 days ago" it was the only one. I mentioned that i've been following it for the last two months and he had definitely got it more than 15 days before.
In general, i think having to deal with the seller just turned me off - and this latest stunt of increasing the price only makes me more wary. Also i probably annoyed him by calling him out on a few things

Just to provide some more color, i too, have been following this car from it's initial price of $21,777 thru $26k, and then back to $22k (It's now at $24k). About a month ago when the price was at $22k, i went to the "dealer" and checked the car out. Some highlights:

You walk into something that could be the storefront for a shipping company, and then they take out out back into a 4 - 6 car garage where the cars live.

Yup, that's exactly it. It's in an industrial estate type location that is off an service road (think surrounded by warehouses etc).

09' E63 wagon ( white ), 09' E63 wagon ( grey )
It was listed on autotrader. I called the owner as soon as it got listed. I drove the car home yesterday and it's a really nice car. The limited slip and the tune do make a big difference for traction/speed.
I'll post pictures tomorrow, it's snowing in Atlanta again!

I have a white ( wife ) and a flint grey ( mine ) 2009 E63 wagons. I need to sell the 2004 E55 sedan and the 2004 E500 wagon in the next couple of weeks. I don't have enough room or need for all four of them. The E55 needs to go first.

I usually keep three pages up which I update every morning and evening: ebay, autotrader and this thread. That way you are always informed first of any new wagon being offered for sale. Good luck with your find.

So is the consensus that the E55 is the better way to go if you want to do upgrades and "tune" the car vs leaving it stock? Seems like the 55 responds better to tuning, and the various other parts such as rotors are cheaper than the 63.
Just looking for an honest opinion. However, the 63's seem to come up for sale more often so I am trying to keep my options open.

To all my wagon lovers, I come here with a heavy heart to announce that I sold my wagon to BimmerDawg yesterday.
We have known each other for over a decade and share very similar tastes in the love of white cars, suspension mods, and keeping it clean and classy.
I had no intention of selling the wagon, but BimmerDawg's wife (who is the ultimate car gal who tracked her own E36 M3 race car frequently at Road Atlanta) needed a bigger vehicle for family duties. The search for an R63 proved unsuccessful and the AMG wagon search didn't prove fruitful either.
After numerous conversations and the exchange of documentation, service history, etc. we finally met for a test drive and conversation. Needless to say, they loved the wagon and are happy to be a part of the AMG family.
If you are in the Alpharetta area of GA and need tires or wheels, I strongly encourage you to visit BimmerDawg at Butler Tire. He (and his wife) are true car people that will bend over backwards to accommodate your needs at an excellent price.
You may ask, what is going to happen to the registry or posting of cars for sale in the future?
I will continue to do this as I am still a huge fan of AMG wagons and preserving the history and documentation of these cars. If someone wants to step up to the plate and take over, that is an option too.
You may ask, what are you buying next? Hint, it is another wagon...... but you will find out next week in a later post

I own a E55 and a E63. The 55 is more raw, it responds very well to tuning and the power and torque increase are substantial with every mod. The E63 is docile and refined, the power delivery is smoother and the steering and suspension feel better and more precise.
The one mod that you'll need for both is a limited slip differential.
