The time has come. Please help me price my car. (not a for sale ad... i'll probably trade it in locally towards something more pedestrian. Just trying to figure out what ballpark to aim for as I haven't been keeping track of this thread and the need to upgrade is somewhat urgent.)
81k miles. 2005 E55 Wagon. Silver over black. Keyless go (works), dynamic heated/cooled seats, and 3rd row seating.
In really good shape, but it does have an accident in it's history... though it was fixed by one of the best shops in the area.
Here is my interaction with a dealer a while back....Enjoy:
There are some good comments on pricing in the last few pages. Basically, condition and mileage matter. Unfortunately, I would say that regardless of how well a previous accident was fixed, it probably affects pricing substantially. Good luck!
Not bad, especially because it's being sold from an official MB dealer, I am sure you can get the VMI, etc. Fully debadged, P02 pkg, and 3rd row seats. A close twin!
I just looked at the car at Arlington. The service records indicate a needed $9500 engine job was declined by the owner in late January 2016. There are also a couole of bodywork records that don't show up on the carfax. Beware of this one!

So this official MB dealership is selling the vehicle without getting the engine work done? And then selling it anyways? That doesn't sound right at all.
Normally you would want to buy from the MB dealership since you can ask for all service records done by any MB dealer and I'm sure issues like this would eventually come up. Really weird they would do that.
Wow, you just saved me a lot of legwork and heartache! I was sitting on hold with the dealer with a very itchy trigger finger. If it seemed legit I was going to try and go get it.
Salesman is telling me that they are now planning to send it to auction, but are willing to complete all the work needed and sell it, but the price will go up. I've asked to understand what all is required....is it head bolts, etc, as he had no idea.
Updated: SA called me back and said they're now quoting $11-12k worth of repairs so they're sending it to auction and are not selling it retail. VIN is WDBUH77X37B091249 just in case someone is searching that VIN looking for details, maybe they'll find this thread. As always, if it seems too good to be true....it is.

I spent about 1.5 hours at the dealership. After going over the service records they supplied I asked them about the declined service and what the estimate was. The estimate was around $9500. I also can't believe they are marketing the vehicle without doing the work.
Complaint on work order: "grinding noise from engine at 4000 rpms"
Cause on work order: "rattling/clattering noise caused by severaldefective camshaft adjusters andsoft cup tappets.
Work was declined.
For what its worth, this car is an outstanding example and interested buyers should purchase this car immediately. If I didnt already own a nicer and nearly identical Black+Black+Black E55 Wagon with lower mileage, I would have bought the car on Craigslist myself.

Is it the same car as post #1726? Do you have any details on the service history?
