F/S 1995 C36 AMG
It is time to sell my beloved 1995 C36 AMG. I have around $16k invested in it and the only reason I'm selling it is to fund an upgrade to a C43. This is 1 of 400 95' C36s imported to the US, and this one is a one-of-a-kind example. This car has been my pride and joy for the past 2.5 years and the maintenance and upgrade list reflects that.
Here's the breakdown:
The Good: 3.6 litre AMG straight-6 engine. 280ft/lbs of torque, 268 horsepower. 4 speed auto, shifts quickly and concisely. The later 5 speeds were known to have issues, but these 4 speeds have been known to be practically bulletproof.
While the car does indeed have 211,500 miles on it, I have spent over $11k in repairs and maintenance in 2.5 years of ownership.
AC compressor and receiver dryer replaced (7/2009 $1950)
radiator and water pump (8/2009 $1314)
driver side control arm (1/2011 $1282)
battery and alternator (2/2011 $877)
parking brake assembly (4/2011 $600)
replace AMG electronic throttle body (5/2011 $1850)
replace drivers side fender (12/2011 $360)
Many other repairs and maintenance replacements, belts, hoses, fully synthetic Mobil 1 0w/40 every 3000 miles.
The Bad:
The headlight wipers do not function
Passenger headrest comes off it's track and doesn't move
Front portion of drivers seat doesn't move (in this and the headrest case, the motors run fine, but the motion is not transferred to the seats)
Currently has a CEL that is being investigated. Most likely faulty communication in the instr. cluster
The Awesome: $3,500 in upgrades
Vogtland Sport springs and Bilstein Sport shocks ($1190)
Custom made Brushed Aluminum interior trim. The only one like it ANYWHERE!
Bosch euro style Amber corners
Custom ram style intake
AMG Brushed Aluminum pedals
Avantgarde grill
AussieMax remote keyless entry (because 95s didn't have this)
The Ugly:
The paint on the rear bumper is cracking. The bumper cover itself is fine, it is only the paint. I've been quoted $300 to fix this, and I have a spare rear bumper I can include in the sale for $200.
The paint is not perfect. The front end has road rash, and there are multiple scrapes and chips around the car. Nothing large enough to be visible from more than 3 feet though. I've done my best to illustrate these blemishes in the photos.
Currently the sunroof tray needs a little work to reinstall it.
Everything else is in fantastic condition and I hate to see it go.
Engine pulls strong, suspension is confidence-inspiring, wheels are in ok-good shape, a little curb rash, no cracks though.
Asking $6,800.00 O.B.O. with 18" Monos with snow's in the rear and Hankook V12s in the front
or
$7,400.00 obo with 18" Brabus VI rep. wheels, one slight, slight rash on one wheel, 5k mile Yoko Avid Envigor all seasons
Talk me down!!

Between the non C36 intake tube and the semi hot air intake...your C36 is probably down on power a bit. I'm sure it sounds better, but that bay gets hot.
At 211K is the headgasket the original one ? if not , any rec's of it being replaced ?
The front fogs are pretty much unobtanium used, and about 650.00 for the pair at the dealer...any chance you have them ?
How about the brakes up front ? what pads, and when was the last time they were done ? rotor life ?
Thanks.
PS- can you post a close up pic of the front area of the motor where the timing chain cover is...that usually a leak zone. I was wondering what yours was like.

I don't have access to the car or the records until mid Feb, but I don't believe it has been replaced. There is a slight on and off oil leak, but it hasn't dripped a drop since last spring. It also hasn't been pinpointed to the front corner around the timing chain cover where the hg has been known to leak. It's so small though I've chosen to leave it, and 80% of the time the leak is non-existant.
The fogs definitely are hard to come by. The passengers side one wasn't working a year and a bit ago, so i took it out to fix, and managed to drop the housing and break it

All the pads were changed this past summer. Pagid pads all around. Hard to find the correct fitment for the 95' brakes from other brands, so I stuck with what I know worked. Haven't checked the rotors recently. I do remember them being replaced sometime relatively recently on the maintenance records, but I couldn't tell you when, and it might not matter seeing as I've put 50K miles on the car in 2.5 years.
Thanks for looking!

MBWorld Fanatic!
I had C36 fogs for sale for about 2 years now. Also you will never see near that much for your C36. The Brabus replicas would be better off selling seperate, since nobody will be that much extra for replica rims that are not quality made new.

![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
I have the driver side fog in great shape, but it seems like everyone only has that one...
I'm totally aware of this, but I'm using this as an anchor to work down from. Mine is still the second cheapest on auto trader, and it does have more serviced items than most of the others for sale. I'm also in no huge rush to sell, so if it were to go to someone not from the forums that may pay closer to my numbers, I won't complain.
I also sort of agree with this, but I threw them in there just in case, and because it's still cheaper for the new owner than getting the same wheels and tires after the sale

Thank you! I was worried about that. Hopefully people will understand that these engines can keep on trucking for ages with proper maintenance and that the 4-speed trannys are bulletproof!
