What is the dealer or Carmax offering her? I'm sure somebody here would beat that. That's how I like to price vehicles that aren't selling readily on the open market like this! Just a suggestion...

Does Cal. really do that? Sales tax on the full new car price regardless of trade in? So if I buy a new CLS63 for $125,000 and trade in a '11 SL63 worth say$115,000, I pay sales tax on the full $125,000 and not the $10,000 difference even though I've already paid sales tax on the trade in vehicle? Must be one of them democratic staes that Obama is counting on in Nov.

though it's been the case for the longest time, so you can blame bush, clintons, etc... i think it's pretty silly to blame it on obama. especially CA has been under republican for years?

Yup, ****ty. It's why many people simply write down the value or "gift" their cars (so I hear)... Total scam as one car can have sales tax paid on it's then market value 5-10x in it's lifetime. You could probably pay more in sales tax on a vehicle than what it was originally worth over it's life if it changed hands enough times!

I'm looking at the MB brochure for this car and it lists the performance package item as:
AMG Performance Package:
– AMG Alcantara sport steering wheel with shift paddles.
– 186-mph speed limiter.
– Special AMG suspension system.
– AMG “compound” braking system.
– AMG 19" twin-spoke multipiece wheels
with high-performance tires.11
– AMG limited slip differential.
Says NOTHING about more horsepower or torque, etc.
Any basis for your wild claims?
