1993 Mercedes Benz 300TE
My 1993 Mercedes Benz 300TE is in great shape other than the transmission being completely out of the car. The reason for originally removing the transmission was because the car wouldn't stay in 4th gear for long periods of time. It was dropping gears from 4th to 3rd often while driving on the freeway. I finally got tired of dealing with it and decided to swap it out for another tranny (Should of never bought a used one). While having the tranny installed my mechanic figured what possibly was the initial problem for the gears dropping, the kickdown cable needed to be replaced on my original Trans. However it was too late try an fix the original because I had already bought another tranny. I had the 1st replacement tranny installed and that one didn't work at all. After installing the 2nd one , I soon found out during the test drive that it had no reverse. After removing the last transmission I started to follow up on my original idea and do a 5 speed swap out of the 190E cosworth which is about the same price as getting the original Trans rebuilt (if that's even the problem). Did my research and wasn't successful at finding everything needed to complete the swap in time before my move. so here we are 6 months later and now my baby is for sale. I swear to you guys though, my car had literally NO mechanical problems! This is a "drive to Palm Springs middle of July with the A/C blowing ice whole way there" kind of car. I assure you.
