We're selling our 2013 GL450. 81k miles. It is a CPO car, still under CPO warranty through 9/17. We are the second owners. We are in Connecticut. It was sold and serviced then sold to us by the same Mercedes dealership (New Country in Hartford, CT) The brakes (oem mercedes) and tires (michelin latitude sport) have less than 2k miles on them. There is no damage to the interior or exterior, nor any mechanical issues (it's still under warranty). I have a set of winter wheels (the same exact size and style) as well as winter mats and a ski rack. Options below:

How about the usual stuff, mileage and location?

I know. I'm in an add spot with this car. Bought it for $52k CPO 19 months ago with 50kmiles. Same dealer offered $26k for trade last month (which tells you 29 is a little low for retail). If it had to go - 26 on trade is a decent option. Only way this will sell privately is if someone prices it against other cpo cars...that's what it is. My last GL came from a private lot w/no warranty and 50k miles. My car that I'm selling now is NOT that situation. It's a CPO caliber car.
If it doesn't sell that's fine. Its a third car. I just wanted to get a GLS to avoid paying for any out-of-warranty work which will eventually be necessary.
I'll update the pictures to better reflect the condition of the car.
Thanks,
DRP

That sounds like it's right on target for a trade in. Dealers always seem to offer rough trade in. For private party sale, you never get retail. Somewhere between average and clean trade in. You might mention if you have some other options and your location. Someone on the east coast isn't going to be interested in a car on the west and vice versa, especially when you have it basically at retail. When you trade in a CPO car, the CPO expires so the value is in selling it private party as it can be transferred. The thing is, any CPO car on a dealer lot can have up to 3 years of CPO warranty whereas your car only has a few months of CPO left.

Do you know if CPO warranty can be extended? If so what would be the price for such an option in the market for CPO GL. Seems like exactly the deal I'm looking for with only exemption being the warranty is too short.
Thank You

When I bought our car there was a special incentive - the CPO coverage was for 2 years from the end of the original warranty and unlimited mileage.
I don't believe you can extend CPO because they would have to re-certify it, but I'm curious whether being within a CPO warranty is looked at differently than being out of warranty for the purposes of buying an extended warranty.
I will find out

David

I believe the max for CPO is 3 years. You can check the extended warranty sub-forum and ask the vendors there what the cost would be and if it qualifies. You might be able to get another year out of it. Normally most people buy an extra 2 years right after getting the car as it normally just comes with a 1 year CPO.

If the CPO expires in 2017, presuming a first sold date in 2012, that's only 5 years of an eligible 7 year warranty coverage through MB, meaning, you should be able to extend the CPO warranty another two years should you choose to before the CPO warranty expires.

If he bought it with 50k, the original warranty would have expired and he would just have the CPO for 2 years. I think you are only eligible to get 7 years if it was still under the original warranty.
