My New ML63

Well I got it and so far I am LOVING it. I am also driving it more than my SL. Here are some pictures. Enjoy. Anybody get any confirmation the the wheels and tires yet. It doesn't look like there is much space for anything.

Like I said in the other thread, 18s won't work on ML63, smallest is 19.

Congratulations on the sweet new ride. Awesome interior B & T! (you know I love the exterior...) Your interior will be so much cooler during the summer months. The lighter color really makes the darker wood stand out more.

That first 1000 miles is the hardest... I'm up to 750.

Enjoy!

Few questions.

Does anyone know if the smoking package was an option? I have an ashtray in the front and rear console.

Did they killed the option for the mirrors to angle down when the car is in reverse?

Dose anyone else see a glare from the crome circles on the air vents in the rear view mirrors.

2MANYCARS you were right! What size tires. The 295/45 19 don't have many tire options.

Smoking package is not an option.

Did they killed the option for the mirrors to angle down when the car is in reverse?

Press the middle button of the outside mirror adjustment buttons with vehicle power on and the outside mirrors will fold in/out.

Dose anyone else see a glare from the crome circles on the air vents in the rear view mirrors.

Yes I do but I've gotten used to it and it's a little less noticeable with the front windows tinted.

My ML63 has just turned 1500 miles "old" and have not had any problems at all. Engine hasn't used any oil either.
One POI: For any of us that drive in southern calif. and use "FastTrak" be sure and place the transponder in one of the three "clear" areas of the windshield or it won't work.
Enjoy this great vehicle !!
P.S. As a previous owner of two Cayenne Twin Turbos I can unequivocally say the ML63 is a more fun vehicle to drive all while being quieter and smoother running. However, the stereo doesn't sound as rich as the the CTT and the nav isn't as informative either but no big deal here.

Black&Tan AMG,
Glad I could be of help. You are correct, the 295/45/19 is quite a rare find, but I remember I came across of Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow in 285s, which should be ok for the factory 19" AMG wheels.

I was asking if they can angle down to show you the curb. Like on my SL and old CLS. I don't think it can.

What percent did you tint the front? Is there a law for that in NV?

My apologies Black&Tan for not reading your question more closely regarding mirror tilt down. No, the passenger side outside mirror does not tilt down when you select reverse.

In order to match the rest of the factory tint I had the front side windows tinted to 21%. It's not "legal" here in NV but cops don't enforce it.

My ML63 update: I took the ML63 to a very remote location with absolutely no traffic and a dead end road for a top speed test this afternoon. Outside air temperature was 83 degrees with no wind, and the altitude was 1,900 feet. It readily goes to 163mph indicated before hitting the electronic speed limiter. I had the shocks set to "sport" and manually shifted at 6,800 rpm's. Handling was semi-"light" above 130 or so. Compared to the CTT, the ML63 is not as solid as the CTT above about 130. However, my "butt sensor" felt that the ML63 has a stronger kick in the pants than the CTT. I only do the top speed test once so now I will just enjoy the vehicle at more sane speeds.

Also, did you know that Mercedes offers a "raised speed limiter" option of 171 mph? Don't know what it costs and I would not buy it but FWIW

2009 ML 550 Sports Package
My 2009 Mercedes Benz ML 550 does not appear to have the "tilt down" passenger mirror feature when in reverse gear. Any idea how I can activate it? I thought this feature had been a constant in many models since 2002. My MB dealer said he could not find the feature in the computer but that I should "check the blogs"!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you have the switch for the mirror in the passenger adjustment mode. Then when you put the car in reverse, it should automatically turn down. Good Luck!

Thanks, I tried that, but no go. Looks like I'm going to have to bring it back to the dealer and see if they can give it another try.

Please let us know how you make out. Had the tilt down option in my ML500, but can't find how to do it, or if it even exists in my ML63. Never bothered to ask at the dealer myself, and doesn't seem to be instructions in the owners manual, odd that they would delete this option in the ML63, as I did find it helpful.
