Rider1 love the GSXR but I was referring to the carrier never seen anything like it over here. Is it easy to remove when not using?

Performance for the GSXR: 0 - 60mph: under 3 seconds (depending on rider and launching capabilities). 0 - 100mph: low to mid 5's !!! 1/4 mile: high 10's at around 143 mph. Whew! Of course I've never done this...it comes from my memory of reading mcycle mags.

And they're "cheap" !

Oh sorry, the carrier is made by Joe Hauler near San Diego, Cal. It is very easy to attach and remove. It goes into any 2" hitch receiver on your car. One person job....as long as that one person can lift 70lbs. and guide it into the car's receiver. Or has a friend.
Retail price is $699.99 for this model, the JH05.
It is a welded unit and has to be shipped by truck so for you ... the "shipping" would be prohibitive.
However, I'm sure there are some excellent welders in your area and they could weld a carrier hitch like this one together for a lot less $$.

Thank you Rider1

Will be able to ditch the trailer now, need to look into getting the removable tow bar removed and get a new one fitted that is able to take Carrier now.
I'll ask my brother-in-law tomorrow to recommend a welder.

Thanx again

Just been it touch with the biggest supplier of tow bars in UK and they say I will not be able to find this type of receiving bracket in the uk, so can anyone send me a link to a US suppliers website as I don't know what this bar is called. Also do you think it would be legal in the EU?

Thanking You all in advance and sorry to be a pain in the bum!

Here's a link to the builder's website for my hitch carrier: www.joehauler.com.
The model I use is the JH05. From the main page go to "single carriers", then on the left side of the page select "cam-loc haulers".

This hitch carrier slides into the factory hitch receiver on your ML63 assuming you have the tow package.

Good luck, it'll be worth it IMO.

2018 E63S Wagon. Previous Vehicles: 2007 ML63, 2011 C63 P31, 2014 ML63
Anybody know what brand/model # of hitches these guys are using. Tried to have dealer install a hitch on my ML63 after reading this post and told me they highly advise against it. Was boggled as it has a 7500lb advertised towing capacity yet they don't want to do it. Can anybody shine some light on this please?

Generally dealers shy away from retrofitting the hitch because it's very expensive- generally around $2,000. I think mostly because it's quite labor intensive. With that said, it is possible- again, just expensive.

New, old Mercedes and REAL AMG's.
Reviving an old thread with some numbers. Went to two local MB dealerships for quotes on tow package retrofit for my 2010 ML63. Here's what they told me:

Dealership No. 1:

- Tow bar $770
- Wiring harness $142
- No new SAM (based on VIN)
- Total parts + 6%tax = $966.72

- Labor: 6 hrs + tax =1195.53 (holy sh#t!!)

- Total for the joke: $1928.03

Dealer No. 2:

- Tow bar = $775.
- (two) wiring harnesses = $125
- "You DO need a new SAM" (based on VIN. ????) = $504.
- Total for parts after tax = $1488.24

- Labor costs "would run you about" $530 after taxes.

Total for the installation: $2018

I'm still digesting the figures but it appears that MB dealers don't care how the get their estimates as long as the final figure is pretty much $2K.
