Address book not accessable using Bluetooth

i was wondering if anybody else had this problem. I can use Comand to take and recieve calls using my cellphone with the bluetooth puck, but the soft key for the address book is greyed out and the Comand will not store recently dialed or recieved calls. I have a brand new phone (Cingular 8125 with Windows mobile5.0.

What gives??????

Your phone is not on MB compatibility list, my Samsung i320n does the same thing, as far as I know none of the smartphones running WM5 is on that list.
Without 100% compatibility, the bluetooth module will only act as a handsfree headset for the phone hence the greyed out options.

2007 ML350 w/ full AMG package
Dealer here in Germany explained to me that only numbers stored on the phones SIM card are accessible – but not many people get SIM based phones in the US though – not sure how it works otherwise.

20+ to list......
Same thing here, I agree the MB phonesystem is kind of worthless without the ability to download all the contacts from our phones, but in NYC, you need some sort of hands free when driving, so I get it anyway. Comparing the handsfree that BMW offers, BMW definitely has a better system.

I have a second phone that I keep in the car. The motorola razor works with the phonebook and the motorola Q (WM5) does not. It's kind of a pain but if I am on a long trip I just push a preset button to transfer my calls. Otherwise I just use the razor in the car. The only problem is that I have 300-400 numbers in the phone and it is easier to call using the keypad of the phone than the MB command.

Solution for Treo

I use a Treo 680, and only the speed dial buttons (1-9) are accessible via Bluetooth using the steering wheel buttons (X5 4.8is). I have an effective solution, though...

Cingular offers a "voice dial" service for 4 or 5 dollars/month. I upload all of my contacts into Cingular's system via the web directly from Outlook.

I set Cingular's voice dial service as one of my 9 speed dial buttons.

Now, I can scroll to "voice dial" using the steering wheel and instrument cluster display, dial in, and voice-dial any of my contacts. The system holds up to 2000.

I haven't tried this yet in my MB (CL600) yet because I rarely drive it, but I assume it will work, using the puck. It works flawlessly with the built-in Bluetooth in the BMW.
