Good link bob...

Well guy in 63 has slowest reactions known to man. After that, the 63 took over and gave the jeep a brutal pounding.

Good to see the 63 obviously does make over 500bhp. Who would have doubted it?!

From what i've read the ML63 would trouble wifie's X5 in the twists. About time too

wow, I was not expecting that! hmm, I didn't think that the SRT8 was that fast, if that was a stock Jeep then I am very impressed but I always take these videos with a grain of salt

thanks for the post!!!

I saw a Jeep SRT8 turning today, so I slowed down so it could catch up. I was hoping to have some fun, but it was a woman driving it!

AND SHE WAS PUTTING ON MAKEUP!!! argh.

Perhaps it was the sporting thing to do; give the Jeep a head start and a sporting chance...

.................or as they might say in the Jeep SRT8 forum; The Jeep gave the ML63 a good beating, then slowed down for the ML63 to catch up. No?

That video didn't really show anything. It wasn't obvious wether the MB caught up or the Jeep slowed down.

Anyway guys, not to troll this right here, but come one, these are both SUVs, why do you insist on racing them? That is not the point of an SUV. What about drivability, handling, roomines, off road ... Compare them where it counts and see where they stand.

Well, if THAT were true then neither would exist. There is not much "U" in these two SUVs -- which is most definitely a good thing IMHO!

Yes he did, and it seems like it the ml just floored it when they went. Not much speed difference between the cars at any rate.

Anyway you slice it that was an incredibly slow WALK(hard to tell but, it did appear the Jeep let off the gas thus enabling the walk) at 120mph, I'd say if they launched identicaly the SRT looks a bit faster..

that wasnt eating him, he barely pulled 1 car length and they were no doubt nudging 100mph

i honestly expected more from the ml63, its got 2 more gears, 80more hp etc...

i guess the srt8 is just very fast for some reason

Damn bro! you took the words right outta my mouth, these ml guys are just blind calling either of those 2 races a solid beatin'

Just aint so guys...watch it again and realize the ML isn't putin' any kinda beatin' on that SRT, it barely pulled a length on that roll-on.. & the 1st race the SRT looked a bit faster, then let off on the gas when the ML slowly walked by....

OK guys ... time for some real experience...
I have the Jeep SRT8 and "sl55dude" on this board has the ML63.
We've raced a couple times ...

The Jeep will kill the ML63 even worse than in that video, the power braking was retarded and only slowed the Jeep down.

The ML63 will walk up at around 90mph and pass and there's nothing the Jeep can do about it, the ML63 has better high end. We didn't go past 110mph or so, so I am unsure if the Jeep would actually catch up again at higher speeds.

"sl55dude" told me he raced another Jeep SRT8 on the tollway a couple days ago and it was keeping pace with him at 155mph~ so that is why I am unsure if the SRT8 would catch up the ML63 at 130mph~

Off the line, SRT8 wins ... higher end ML63

It doesn't sound to me like he power-shifted, but it certainly looked really slow of the line. The ML63 certainly bogs down off the line, you can hear it 'slowly' coming on cam, which again is nothing like it is in reality - if he'd just mashed the throttle in D.

The only time my car bogs down like that is if I have selected a gear manually whilst in either 'C' or 'S', i.e. the display says D5 indicating that 5th gear will be as high as the gearbox will go, but its actually in 2nd gear because I've slowed down or stopped - then it feels really lethargic but I don't yet know why. I just avoid doing that and leave it in either 'C' or 'S' and let the gearbox do the work instead. Manual mode in the 7-speed seems next to useless to me.

Otherwise clearly the SRT8 stays ahead. Both cars look like they back-off as they reach approaching traffic and when the ML63 pulls past the SRT8 then both of them have stopped accelerating. You can partly tell this by the lack of sound coming from within the ML63, if it was still accelerating it would have sounded 'louder' than when it first started the run since the variable exhuast opens up at higher speeds (one of MB's tricks to pass the drive-by-noise regs).

So overall there's not much to conclude apart from the Jeep sounded nice, went well and the ML driver tried to be too clever with the settings on his car and therefore screwed up the run.

As regards Video 2 - the ML driver again seems to have selected a gear manually although this time it doesn't seem to hurt him too much, the SRT8 picks up quicker then they both appear to accelerate equally and then the ML pulls ahead. Seems reasonably clear.

p.s. and of course the ML being silver is slower than the (badder) black ones, so obviously a black one would have been quicker..

Ml 63 Got Dusted

C'mon guys. Face a little reality here. The ML 63 got dusted. Count how many seconds the SRT stayed ahead of the ML. It took about 18-19 seconds for the ML 63 to be nose to nose w/ the SRT. Race was long over and the SRT easily won. To say the ML pulled after 120-130 is lame. Don't get me wrong as I'm seriously considering buying an ML 63 late this year but the SRT gave the ML a spanking. Get over it. Some of you guys sound like the same people you criticize for making lame excuses after losing.

There's an infamous saying here about BMW owners isn't there? "Wait til the twisties." Are you guys gonna be famous for "Wait til we hit 120." Give me a break.

Fine it been dusted, but we dont know few things! Was the reaction time of ML driver fast enough? and What would be the difference if the race would start in 1st gear for ML63?

Other than that yea srt kicked some *** in this particular race.

I belive SRT is also lighter isnt it?

Spanking? Dusted? Don't pull your punches, why not say what you really mean..

I assume you've only browsed the replies above, but I remember saying that the SRT8 driver was clearly ahead. Also they didn't reach 120 from what I can see since they both slowed down, so there's no evidence in Video 1 to assert that the ML63 pulled ground back. How exactly you conclude that the SRT8 won in Video 2 is beyond me though.

But hey, it's not exactly science is it..

I'm only referring to the first video. If they ran 19 seconds or more from a stop, they were at 120plus. Watch the video again and see how long they ran. At the end of a quarter mile the ML was 3-4 car lengths back. That's a whoopin in my book. I can't find the 2nd video but if the ML is pulling only a car length on the top end(as someone posted above) than that just goes to show how strong the Dodge is and not to be taken lightly.

By all means, I like the ML 63 much better and when I go car shopping, the Dodge will not be on my list. But the reality of it is, this particular ML couldn't hang with the Dodge.

No more excuses. It lost. Period. It seemed like a fair race. C.mon. We're MB owners not BMW owners.

Opps check that. I have an X5 also. Make that M5 owners.
