there is a reason the brakes are so big, its called weight, and i would argue that that is the most important thing, especially in the canyons, you ever drive a car at the limit through a canyon?

you ever drive any car on the limit anywhere?

ML 63
You are truly a tard... you post on some other thread about you you wasted an M5 with your daddy's ML55 and now you talk about beating an ML63 with a e350... yeah right. If you beat anything in the ML55 chances are you were the only one racing.

Having owned all the cars you reference... the M5 will win in any situation, maybe except a freeway roll on... the ML63 will destory a 55 and an E350, and the e350 and Ml55 are probably pretty evenly matched, but the E class has the most horrendous steering ever put into a car.

On the track... M5, ML63, E350, ML55... And this comes from experience on the track with all except the ML63...

I've actually seen him get that ML55 on two wheels before, in the canyons, and yes the guy in the M5 was a scared driver, but nevertheless he was racing and he did get beat.

i don't care what you can do in a car... i'm sure someone here could show you the tail lights of their yugo...

The point is, with equal drivers, an Ml63 is a much more capable car than an e350 or an Ml55... in all situations on all roads.

Nurburgring track times: see what ML meets or beats!

I'm wondering where the 8:30 came from? Am I missing something? If the 8:30 mentioned above is accurate then I think people should drive the ML before saying "no way" does it compare in the twisties.
These may not all be 2007 vehicle times but they are strong sports cars on a twisty track.
http://wheeltalk.fancal.net/?p=476
8:32 - 144.844 km/h - Porsche Boxster S, 252 PS/1386 kg (sport auto 12/99)
8:29 - 145.697 km/h - Mercedes Benz CLK 55 AMG, 347 PS/1593 kg (sport auto 05/00)
8:29 - 145.697 km/h - Audi S4 4.2 Avant, 344 PS/1826 kg (sport auto 11/03)
8:31.42 145.008 km/h - Ferrari F355, 380hp (Top Gear magazine)
8:32 - 144.844 km/h - Lotus Exige, 192hp (sport auto 08/04)
How about this from the E55 forum?
8:50* -- 139.925 km/h -- Mercedes Benz E55 AMG (sport auto ??/00)

Any props for that Militant grunt? or am I missing something? The more I check the more I think 8:30 for an ML63 must be a mistake!

http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?vie...ID=0&tID=10073
8:25* -- 146.851 km/h – 2007 BMW M5 Touring, 507 PS (*mfr.)

The ML may not be a sports car but it might just outhandle a few good ones.
Perhaps good acceleration and strong brakes account for the fast time.

Anyone who thinks an ML 63 could compare to a 545 in the slalom clearly has no idea what they're talking about. I have driven a ML 63 twice now, its an suv with a lot of power, it still handles like an suv. You can't defy the laws of physics. I would say if you can't tell the difference between a sports sedan and a SUV, maybe you shouldn't worry about spending so much on a vehicle in the first place.

While I haven't driven both like you mrademacher, I'm quite sure your right . As best I can find from the mags (for what they are worth) the 2007 BMW 545 is better than the Infiniti M45 (63.6) in the slalom (http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=1) , and the same mag puts the ML63 at 62.1. No contest.

Yes the ML doesn't handle like a sports sedan .

The point was that I'm wondering if it's true that a good driver can take one around a real road like Nurburgring as quickly as some respectable sports cars.
I haven't driven too many slaloms lately. I don't see a 8:30 Nurburgring track time being realistic given what else gets 8:30 or more and how badly many say the ML compares on the road compared to cars they have driven and I haven't.

This to me is a important given I need the ability to tow, have all wheel drive and need the space practicality. Its nice to be able to feel the kick in the pants from an SUV and still have a little fun in the corners. Certainly more fun than one should have on a public road. The speed required to exceed the ML limits on said public roads is a little irresponsible no?
I'm sorry your drives of the ML weren't as pleasurable as mine!
If price where a consideration I'd probably be in a SRT8 Jeep!

not equal drivers?

I guess thats a pretty broad category. I can tell you I could probably beat my wife in the ML in a race on a twisty mountain road if I was in my daughters toyota echo!
