ML55 Flowmaster Resonator Upsolute ECU

I have a '01 ML55 "Designo" that we bought new in January 2001. Only mods so far to the car have been a Camaro "Flowmaster" muffler and a K&N filter.

Not noticable at idle, but pleasant sound at WOT.

Now, my question is: if I remove the center resonator, will my dog bite me, my wife file for divorce and the neighbors call the police everytime I drive by? Beside a new sound, will I get any better/lower performance?

Have any of you used a $300 chip from Upsolute? If so, what are your expericences, bad or good?

Last but not least, I was considering replacing the obsolete NAV with a Pioneer 2-DIN. Any recommandations?

Thanks.

Forget Upsolute, Get a powerchip. They got the tune done real nice on mine. I do believe the muffler has been done before and also on this forum. Search back, waaay back. I'm sure youll find something

Thanks Blue_Monster.

I've seen a few threads, but most of them just quickly die from apparently lack of interest.

Anyone knows the baseline wheel HP/TQ on a ML55 by any chance. I think I saw something like 260HP once, but that seems low coming from 340+ at the crank, unless that 4WD transmission eats it all.

My crank Power is 503 and the baseline dyno was 400 HP, before the Powerchip

My 2001 ML55 Stock had:

342 hp at 5500 rpm

Torque 376 lb-ft at 3000 rpm.

Now add @6% to 14% for my green filter (so they claim) so hp is close to @362...I plan on improving on those numbers with a few mods myself...

Please keep us posted about what you do. I shall run a dyno on the current state of mod: Camaro muffler, resonator delete, K&N.

Then I will pull another dyno with a chip and see if there is more HP/TQ.

So for the ML55 it should be 342 minus 20 % = 274 hp? (more or less)
