Our build date is tomorrow... I wonder how long it will take before we actually will receive it...

usually it takes a week to build and then if you are in the US up to 2 weeks to arrive at the dealer (of course there are exceptions!)

mine entered production Aug 13th, was done by the 18th and is now en route to MA (train and then truck). I ll let you know when it arrives!

what combo did you get?

Funny. I was told that delivery wasn't until mid-Sept. at the earliest.

I'm still not positive if I'm going to go with it or the Turbo S until I get in for a test drive.

It takes nearly 4 months when you order it from Switzerland

Wow... that sounds much quicker than I expected. Yeah, definitely keep me posted on how long it takes to arrive for you. We got silver with keyless, headlight package (which is now standard anyways), voice control, and parktronic. Which combo did you get?

Yeah, that's what I heard as well... but, anyways if it takes 2-3 weeks from build date, then that'll be mid-Sept for us.

We also were up in the air between ML and CayenneTS. For us, it came down to:
1) Cayenne is not as good looking
2) ML accelerates faster
3) More cargo space in ML
4) Not as "flashy" as a Porsche is

The only good reason I can think of that the Porsche would win is performance potential in upgradability. But, since this is going to be the wife's car, I didn't care so much about getting up to 800hp...

Bernie!

You are going to LOVE your ML63!! Just be patient and call the dealer every 4 hours like I did! It is totally beyond my expectations after my ML55 and S55..

Woot! Just got our ML63 too! It's everything we imagined and more! Except for one small detail... it looks liks MB deleted the rear door lock overide switch (you know, the one to keep kids from opening the rear doors). Unless they forgot to put ours in...

Kostis, does your 2008 have the rear door switch?

It looks like there's a little rectangular hole where that switch is supposed to be, but it's empty.

Here's a picture from the 2007 online manual...

i ll check and let you know.. don't have kids so had not checked for it.

my only complains so far:

1. there is no valet switch like some am and jags have to prevent the valet from taking the car for a joy ride.

2. compared to the Q7 the controls are quite complicated. I wish they had the S / new C class system installed.

3. no easy entry function like the RR where the car lowers so you can enter easier.

other than that the car is a charm... cant wait to see what it does after the break in...

I test drove a ML63 and a Cayenne Turbo and choose the Cayenne for the fit and finish and for the twin-turbo engine. Boost is addictive!

Something on 4 wheels..
Congrats, folks!

I have a question about the interior: Is the dash leather-covered? Somebody mentioned that in a different thread..

And how is the overall quality? Any glitches so far? And what about the engine- and exhaust-sound?

How many miles do you get on average with a tank of gas? MPG is not that important, just curious how often you have to visit the gas-station...

Thanks for any feedback!

Depends on where in the world you are, the Europeans got short changed and are stuck with the plastic dash, for North Americans, we get the leather dash.

Apart from a single report here about the car stalling, there has been no problems reported, there were a couple recalls for the engine but seems like it only affect the early cars.

Exhaust note is quite personal, some like the stock growl and some like it without the resonators, take your pick.

I go about 400+km per tank, that's about 260miles, which I think it's quite acceptable for a mostly city driven 500hp suv.

Whoopsy,

Thank You very much for your reply - so North Americans get a leather-dash - that's awesome..

Thanks for answering all my questions!

I just checked ebay to get additional information about the ML63 and I found the following information: Standard feature:

'401 Active Ventilated Seats/Front'

Is that correct? I might be too stupid to read the e-brochure on mbusa.com but as far as I recall, they simply forgot to mention this fantastic feature - as well as the leather-dash..

I also had the chance to look at the dash. Very sweet! Is it just me or do you agree that this car is a 'bargain' when compared to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo with similar features?

At the time I bought mine, I was considering the Cayenne Turbo S, but here in Canada, the price difference was over $60k and it was a no brainer to go for the cheaper, faster and imo the better one. That 60k has been turned into a Bimmer 335xi for the wife :p

The 'air-condition' seats , it was an option last year when I bought mine, guess it's standard this year?

Whoopsy is right , i was thinking the exact same thing, there is a big price diff here, but you know what, i have always wanted to have a ml55, and now i got even something better, and you know what as far as i know it is better than the turbo S, i am sooooooooooooooooo satisfied with my ML 63 AMG! THis car is beautiful, sooo freaking smooth, i think ill have my license taken away soon.
best suv/car on the road, my friend bought the new x5 4.8, people please dont even put the 4.8 beside the ml63 amg and try to compare it, it just makes the bmmer look freaking stupid! goddaaamn 503 hpsss! lord have mercy
i'm soo happy, i recommend this car to everybody outthere ,the white is gorgeous
