Satellite Radio Location?

Does anyone here know where the satellite module goes in the ML63? I am presuming that it goes in one of the rear 1/4 panels. If anyone knows please let me know before I start pulling stuff apart.

I got all the parts from Sunil but no instructions and I was going to the dealer but after they quoted me close to 11hrs, I said screw that.

I just pray that it was pre-wired from the head unit back.

Any input will help and save time.

Thanks.

Sirius Satel

I did a "cut and paste" from a much earlier thread titled: "Sirius on the ML" that was started by WHOOPSY back on 1-21-07 and lasted until 2-01-07 . If you do a thorough search of this forum of all the previous threads you will probably find some additional information on Sirius and the ML63. Many subscribers like me tend to frequent this forum for several days then we go "dark", as we are busy driving our ML63's for the shear fun of it. Hope this information helps you some....

"After some digging in the forum, it seems like we'll need a different wiring harness for the SAT receiver, the actual SAT module, and it seems like the headliner needs to drop to install the harness. I know the antenna will be located under the plastic section at the rear of the roof. While I was trying to stick the magnetic antenna from my portable unit I found out the roof is in 2 pieces with the last foot or so is plastic.

Looks like I might have to order the parts from a Seattle dealer and either have them or local dealer to install.

The MB i-pod solution works pretty good, I had it on my CLS and I am thinking of putting one on the ML63 also."

so the module goes up in the headliner??!! I would have guessed that it would have gone in the side panels as it is pretty thick.

Thanks for diggin it up.

Dude, aren't you Joporn with the **** chopped off?

Thought U had ordered all the parts and had them installed already?

I suspect the sat module sits under the rear bench, likely on the pessenger side. It's were the factory entertainment system sits and I would not be surprise to see MB group them together in one spot.

yeah I got all the parts but I have not gotten around to installing them yet. When I took it to the dealership and they quoted me min 11hrs, I decided that I would get someone else to do it....

WIS contains "installation" instructions and there's probably one for the ML.

Why not subscribe for a day and download what you need. It won't put a dent in your "11 hours" savings.

So I got all the installation instructions today for this satellite radio. I also found out that my ML63 was NOT pre-wired I also found out that the dealerships will now sell the parts here in Canada for ONLY $2100 plus 5 hrs labour for the install, if pre-wired. If it is not pre-wired, you have one hell of a job ahead of you. Complete instructions below.

I am thinking I might as well buy a new one with the damn radio.

You might want to look at what this guy did. He is up in canada too and it looks like he was able to get a kit that cost significantly less. (about the middle of the page they start talking about adding sat radio)

I would see if you can just get the quickharness instead so that you dont have to deal with cutting into the factory wiring.

That plastic wedge tool, by the way, is the best Mercedes tool you can own.
