Difference between ML55 AMG & ML500

Difference between ML55 AMG & ML500
im trying to decide which suv to get between a 2001 ML55 AMG RENNTECH or a 2003 ML500.
here are the positives of both suv's in MY eyes, please correct me if im wrong,
2001 ML55 AMG
- its a 2001
-its got the amg package
-on top of the amg package its got a renntech suspension,rims,and ecu
- it has 103000 miles on the clock
2003 ML500
-its 2 years newer
-i believe it would get a bit better gas millage
-it does has AMG rims but thats as far as the AMG goes
- it only has 90000 miles on the clock
so if anyone could really inform me on which one would be more suitable ( better on gas,
insurance,
parts,
overall durability,
etc)
which one should i buy... they are both the same price and the two dealers would do a 3 month 3,000 mile warrenty on both for free, this is my first MB and im really excited about this purchase.

The ML55 is an AMG car, not just a Benz with the "AMG package" so the specific parts would be more expensive. As far as durability...some MLs can last forever, others are not so lucky. The 03 was the first year of a facelift, not sure of the success history of the facelifted models. But seeing as how these cars are both well into the mileage...they should be ok?

03 ML500 def. Got a lot of improved parts and better build quality. ML55 to be honest isn't that great of a vehicle... sorta piece mealed together imo.

01 ML55, 91 Supra Turbo, 05 Audi S4
See if there are any repair records for each, check thru them, especially the ML55, I spent/still spending large $$$ on my 01 ML55, the first year I bought it, and the parts 
are miles apart, anything that has AMG on it will cost double or more in price! You'll certainly notice the difference in power though, I like mine it still can move pretty good, looks good and run in the upper triple digits without any trouble.
Gas mileage there both V8's and weight 6000lbs so you're not going to get anything great. I get @12-14 city and @16-19 highway going downhill LOL!!! Like MercedesFTW said, some will last forever others are a PITFA!!!

I have an ML55 for sale if you are interested... its a 2000 asking $6200... 150k miles on it though
