Question Help I gotta get new tires for the 55!

I've read a ton of forum posts and it seems the norm is to purchase a set of winter tires/rims and a set of summer tires. But I want to try the all seasons.

What do you recommend for the snow on the stock rims?

I'm thinking the Nitto 404's. Is there another brand or size to put on the stocks to try?

2004 S55 (SOLD, miss it every day), 2009 GL550
Continental ExtremeContact DWS, if you can find them

best all-season tire around. Fantastic in heavy rain, great in a few inches of snow (just don't drive like an @ss), great in dry conditions. Not a track tire, but it's not supposed to be.

I've had a set on my daily driver S55 for 10 months, made it through our triple-blizzard winter like a champ.

Thank you! That was crazy helpful. If I went with the Nitto's I'd have to wait 3 to 4 weeks however I'd pay $808 on the car tax included. I'd do it but I don't think these tires will last that long. They are extremely bald!

New Tires

I just has a set of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS installed on my 2008 ML63 at Sears. Cost of the tires were about $132.00 online per tire. Out the door with install, road hazard, lifetime balance and rotation was $704.00 for the set of four! I kept the oem Conti's (Cross Contact UHP) for the summer, so there was no disposal fee. I also did not do the alignment ($70) because they did not have the proper equipment there. I really didn't need tires now, but winter (live in Chicago) is coming and don't want to be caught looking for all seasons in a couple of months. You'll need to call a Sears Auto to order them. I read all the reviews and at that price, couldn't pass it up.

I called Sears and no luck. I wonder if I called down to Sears in Gurnee? So far no luck. I'm thinking of going to a different rim that has more of a selection in all seasons.

Any suggestions? What do you think?

I just called Sears in Gurnee, IL. They say then don't carry them in the 285/50 18s.

I got them from the Sears at Woodfield Mall. They honored the online price. The Sears at Golf Mill would not.

Thanks! Well, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury have a sale going on for tires and my tires qualify. They should be in on Wednesday and I'll get them on the ride sometime this week!

Thank GOD!!!!

So after that, I have to have replace the following,
fuel filter, oxygen sensor, serpentine belt, and front brake pads.

Yeah I'm not sure about high performance.

Tire Rack considers these tires a Highway All-Season tire developed for the light trucks
