I had a laugh . .
We're talking $AUD here too. Awesome stuff
Guess its out of warranty so I recommend getting a list of part numbers and source parts offshore from www.mymercedesparts.com for example and get parts for <50% than dealer then go to someone other than dealer who will charge you probably $60/hr less for labour.
The whole suspension set up on this model is its weakest link, they arent even taken off road and seem to be completely shot with as little as 20'000km in other cases I have heard of. I friggenn hate airmatic. Good luck, let me know how you go
Ben
I get my gear from genuinemercedesparts.com
I have my new $35 reservoir, a new $144 belt tensioner (2 torx bolts and it's done) and the genuine Struts are $1088 ea.
Front Sway bar links are $55 ea and probably the easiest parts to replace on the whole car.
I might flick it though, she's done 110,000 klms
2 new rear shocks last yr as well.
They do a good job though.
Might be the last time she goes to the stealer.

Looks like money to be made.

After picking the car up from the power steering shop, the car displayed this:

Went to an indi down the rd and ran the codes, turned out to be an 'acceleration sensor'
In an ML with Airmatic these are on top of the struts, easy to get to.
We disconnected the wire, reconnected it and so far its gone away!?
Life's never dull with these cars!
I politely told them parts were on their way from the US and an indi shop will be looking after the car from now on.
The fluid was black as hell too. There is a filter in the reservoir tank and it was restricting oil flow back to the pump, thus making the pump whine.
This can happen when there is a leak or air is being let in but there were no leaks.
3000 kms since repair and all is good
