Making ML a rear wheel drive only.
Does anyone have any knowledge about how one would go about disengaging the front wheel drive component of the ML, to make it rear drive only?
I'm sure it's possible, as I have seen it done on a VW Toureg, and people with Lambo's do it too.
How could it be done on our cars?
Thanks

There would have to be some serious work done on all the electronic stability nannies for this to work right. Its a lot more involved than just removing axles, etc I would think. If you feel it would be fun for you I say go for it and post up your findins and obviously the prerequisite tailsliding/drifting pictures once you're done!!!

Yes, absolutely it would be heaps of work. I wasn't seriously considering it, if it was going to have to be a major project. I was just asking if anyone had any inside knowledge on it.
I will delve a little deeper though. It has been done on a VW Toureg.

Too complicated, too expensive, will make the performance worse, and will ruine it's all weather capability. Putting that much power to rear wheels on a car this heavy will make rear traction a real problem and 0-60 and acceleration times will suffer.
Leave car as is and upgrade all brake rotors to 2-piece rotors, upgrade wheels to forgestar wheels, and upgrade tires to DWS continentals. That will have way more effect than RWD conversion.
