2002 ML55 AMG high mileage - Should I buy?
Hi there,
I haven't been on here for a while, however I am now looking at purchasing a 2002 ML55 AMG. I'm a bit worried as it has high mileage, 252,000Km (note Km, not Miles).
It does have a full service history, is there anything I should specifically look for when going through this?
The seller told me that it uses "2 litres of oil every 20,000kms which is normal for an AMG hand built motor". Is this accurate?
Pictures included so that no wrath will be incurred:
Thanks you in advance! Any comments and opinions are welcome!

I'm usually more interested in a clean and thorough service history than the actual number of miles. A well maintained vehicle will last a long time. I have heard that the 5.5L V8 is rock solid as well. I'd do some more research for any common issues with that model and ask the seller if they have been addressed. Another good idea would be to get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) which is usually only $150. Could save you some serious headache$ down the road. Good luck! I've always liked that body style ML55...after you get it, throw in a Kompressor!!!

I guess I've been wrong ... All this time I believed that ML55 engines were supercharged already (??).
In any case, I strongly agree with Rippin' here. I compare most Mercedes vehicles with aircrafts:
As long as you provide adequate maintenance and use factory parts, the cars will run for ever.
This is a good thing for a machine that has been properly taken care off but it can also be a curse on the ones that have not.
It is common to see older high performance cars whose owners are trying to get rid of because of the cost of repairs/maintenance.
