Good afternoon, 2001 ML55 Owner (recent) - Question for the wise!

Good afternoon folks, I recently purchased a 2001 ML55 AMG. I decided to put some TLC in it and replaced a handful of components (some that were working, some that were not) just to make sure it was dialed in and good to go for some time.

The vehicle has 153,xxx miles, still runs good, shifts like a dream. I spent 4100.xx so far replacing and fixing:
  • New Alternator (454.48)
  • New Water Pump (208.11)
  • New Steering Pump (396.30)
  • AC Compressor /w Clutch (673.73)
  • Belt Tensioner Assembly (252.05)
  • New Idler Pulley (88.62)
  • Serpentine Belt (77.97)
  • Outer Tie Rods (83.94)
  • Front Crankshaft Seal (37.96)
Labor was at a 120.00 rate and it was like 12 hours total time.

Additionally I had a full synthetic oil change and fuel system cleaned. The previous owner had coil pack(s), plugs/wires replaced a few years ago, so still good on that. My question is, even after the AC Compressor & Clutch replaced (new) and AC charged, the AC does not blow cold and seems like the compressor is not engaging. I am taking it back to the shop on Monday to let them run it down further but is there something that is a no-brainer from your guys experience on what it could be? They have checked the main fusebox/relay, doesn't seem to be that. Is there a sensor somewhere or control module we are missing? Thanks for your time and any help. Cheers

Definitely take it back to the shop that did your a/c work. You have already spent enough with the new compressor/belt and they should warranty their labor and work performed. Don't just keep throwing parts at the ML. If you want to set aside money for repairs, thats fine, but don't spend it on something that might last a few more years. Save your money for NEEDED items !!

If you are determined to spend money, take it to a reputable MB dealer and have them run a top to bottom examination on the ML and they will give you a copy on issues they found. Some pictures would be nice for the group......Oh, and enjoy your ML, they are pretty amazing vehicles !!
