ML500 sounds like exhaust leak but doesn’t appear to be

ML500
ML500 sounds like exhaust leak but doesn’t appear to be
2005 ML500

When I start the engine it sounds like an exhaust leak but I cannot find any signs of a leak. This black rubbery substance is spewed all around as pictured.

The only code I’m getting is a bad O2 sensor. Thoughts?
