Post AMG Build Help (GLE63suv)

Hey Gents,
Have a few questions as I get closer to placing a GLE63 build (not the s)

First, I can confirm for any one interested that orders starting now do come with Apple CarPlay. It is code 16U.

But I have some questions regarding codes on my own.

443 Heated Steering wheel. This replaces the flat bottom AMG wheel with a full circle that's heated. Kinda sucks. But I do ski every weekend so want a warm finger. Is the trade-off worth it?

874 MAGIC Vision Control - Anyone have any clue what this is? It is $350bucks. I thinkthey are just fancy wipers with spray. Worth it?

U21 AMG Performance Exhaust - Anyone know what this adds. One dealer says they and the letters AMG to the exhaust. The other says it adds a button inside that allows you to toggle the noise of the exhaust. Both feel like BS to me... Anyone know what this $625 option does add?

543 Double Sun Visors - ? what are these

846 Alum Running Boards - Anyone think the truck looks better without? I can't decide. Or find one to review in person.

B06 Silver Brake Calipers - on the order everyone lists SILVER, arent they Red in the AMG?

So y'all know here's my kit of non standard options
Black, with night package 21"s (black), Driver Assistance Pkg, Pano roof, heated steering wheel, Heated rear seats, carbon interior.

Was told it'll be about three months for build.

Thoughts on the above?

Heated steering wheel is definitely worth it. The heated wheel is pretty nice, just doesn't have the flat bottom.

Magic vision. The windshield spray comes from the wiper blade and is heated. It makes a bit less of a mess and might be helpful for you in the snow. I like it but it's a really marginal call.

I like the running boards.

I am driving a 2016 GLE63s that we ordered I have the sport wheel option in my car heated flat bottom. I dont have magic vision. Good option for dirty cold climates I dislike and dont have running boards I prefer the look and not getting my pants dirty on them in the winter
I love the sport exhaust the the right sound when you want it, and badass when you open it up. A great option much needed in the previous ML63. The s which I have has red calipers
The GLE63s is my current all time favorite SUV it is whatever you want whenever you want it

Are you with AutoMaster, VTMBDLR? I see some dope photos on Instgram from your shop if yes. Is the steering wheel an option? My dealer is not sure what wheel will come with my benz. Is there a code you are aware of?

Yes I have worked at The Automaster for over 4o years !
On our GLE63s We have the following option codes
#281 AMG performance steering wheel
#443 heated steering wheel
That gives you the nice flat bottomed wheel with the alcantara. It is heated and is very nice with an insert at TDC.
I am happy to help with any questions or get you a car ?

That's funny that you worked there. I follow them on Insta and liked pretty much every photo. I also follow VTcars(?) on instragram and saw them featuring Automaster cars (not sure who I found first).

The codes you passed along are what I needed. What is TDC? Total Dead Center?

Since you offered, I do have two questions.
1 Does every GLE63 or above come with the Benz light that shows up on the ground when the door is open? Or is that an option I needed to add?
2. Does the pano roof open above the back passengers or just the front? How does the lighting of the pano work? Is it a manual shade that you pull or push of a button. I havent been able to discover any info on that.

When I buy my next car in Vt I am looking at you guys

My name is John as well!
TDC top dead center
The MB light is on all GLE's mirrors (it should be AMG logo on AMG cars though)
Panel for Pano roof only opens in front,Up and over the back glass the shade is a thin material that opens and closes with the sunroof switch
Thank you for liking my photos!
We will be happy to assist you on your next purchase

Sorry but when you mentioned sport exhaust do you mean you ordered the AMG Dynamic Performance Exhaust option or just talking about the exhaust on the GLE63 as standard?

I am trying to figure out if the optional Performance Exhaust adds a button to turn it on and off, and if so, if it's less loud when off than the standard GLE63 exhaust in Comfort mode.

Hi
The dynamic select knob controls the exhaust. In sport or sport+ it opens it up and with the sportier shift program the noise is noisy and aggressive, snapping and barking. I love it but not all the time.
In the comfort mode the dynamic exhaust is slightly louder than stock ML63, just a little. I have not had a standard GLE63 to compare
I was always disappointed with the lack of sound from my ML63's in the past. There is enough sound now in comfort to make me happy, it sounds great. But it is not annoying at all on the highway. Best of both worlds.

This is a great option "sometimes you feel like a nut sometimes you don't"

Thank you for the reply! Yes, exhaust is absolutely less loud in Comfort but do you have the AMG Dynamic Exhaust option on your vehicle? It is a $700-ish option. The normal GLE63 and GLE63S also have the Dynamic Select knobs which affects exhaust, too, thus me trying to figure out what affects what!

There is no button. The exhaust is activated when you turn the *** into sport, or sport+ settings. The exhaust is its normal self when in "comfort" setting and not any louder than the non-perf exhaust.

I will try to find it, but there's an incredible youtube video (deep in a 17min long benz video) on exactly how it works.

Ok so let me ask it like this.

2016 GLE63 with no AMG Dynamic Performance Exhaust option

2016 GLE63 with the AMG Dynamic Performance Exhaust option

Both cars in Comfort are going to be just as loud? There is a button to activate exhaust on other AMG vehicles so figured there was one there too with that option.

Correct - mb2120,

In comfort the same sound
In Sport and Sport+ there is much more of a machine gun blurp with the AMG Performance exhaust.

Both sound great, and in time, will open up and sounded even meaner and fuller after a couple thousands miles.

(I had to do a TON of instagram stalking plus test drives to determine this specifically for the GLE model).

Awesome, thank you. I really wish it was quieter in comfort though, it's too loud for every day running around to me.

Did you end up ordering the Performance Exhaust option?

It's not too bad if you aren't pushing the vehicle hard. I did go with the perf exhaust because sometimes when I am really driving for fun, I want to hear it.

You can't help giggle everytime. The cabin is so quiet too that in comfort it's not annoying.

Yes I have the $700 AMG dynamic option and it is getting louder with miles. It is plenty quiet for me in comfort. You can hear it though as it comes on throttle its noticeable more than on previous ML63's
It is a great SUV, hurry up and get it!

I have Dynamic option in my 2016 GLE63s, in sport its louder and aggressive, in Sport+ it cracks and pops on down shifts and when you let out of hard acceleration. It is so much fun and worth the $700.

I live where people love to cycle in the middle of the road and hold up traffic, nothing better than passing them in sport + and down shifting. The pops and backfires scars the **** out of them every time.........lol

Hey Serrao,

Since I ordered my build I also added even more:
- The hitch (didnt realize there is no hitch to attach bike rack to without paying $500)
- Convenience package
