Thoughts on new tires -- Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+
Bought a set of michelin pilot sport A/S 3+, stock size 295/35/21, for the winter. I didn't want dedicated snow tires due to the hassle of swapping back and forth so these were the best rated all-season tires according to tire rack. After 2 so-called snow storms in the twin cities recently, here are my initial impressions:
Compared to the old set, Continental DWS 06:
Good
-no tram lining
-stiffer sidewalls
-provided some confidence driving in the snow
Not so Good
-expensive
-noisy...to the point where I thought my wheel bearings were humming
-still lose grip/traction with slightest press of gas pedal
-seems unstable on freeway
Overall, at $340/tire, I'm just not happy with these. Any other tires in stock size should I try?
Thanks for reading.
