I-phone to radio
Sorry, not too tech savvy and don't know how to ask the question, but in a nutshell;
My gf can't seem to play tunes from her I-phone on the radio even though it's plugged in thru the USB port in the console. Are we missing something here?
I believe she can achieve this using Bluetooth, but for some reason doesn't want to. Women.....

Won't work through USB. Only for flash drives with music loaded. You did try media interface with proper cable? If you have an iphone with lightning connector you need the proper cable. I've never had issues. You do get album art on the COMAND when using the media interface.

I found 3 cables in a bag marked "interface cables". I tried using them and strangely, only an old i-pod will play any music. Still doesn't see an iphone or my Samsung.

Wife used to do this when we got ours. She had an iphone 4s and used the cable that came with the ML. When she switched to her new iphone that takes the lightning connector she just went with bluetooth.
Might want to check and see if Mercedes makes a cable with the lightning connection that plugs in to the special port. Better yet teach your girlfriend how to use bluetooth.

"Teach" my gf? You're hilarious LOLOL
She's Italian from Calabria. Can you spell headstrong and stubborn?
She claims that using bluetooth doesn't allow her to scroll through the list of songs to
choose what she wants. I swear....

I found the connectors. One of them works with the older ipods, but the other ones? Nada on her iphone or my Galaxy S6

girlfriend issue aside you have 4 options
a) Stream through BT, quality is pretty good
b) USB (comes with cover art). The one thing that i hate about is this that it jumps from folder to folder to folder and it doesnt go back to the top of the folder you are in
c) Media Interface cable (comes with cover art) quality is about the same as USB, but less than CD quality but about the same as BT. This only works with Ipod software 2.1.4, anything earlier than that wont work. Meaning 6th/7th generation Ipod classic or any other older ipod (not sure on the shuffle though) and it MUST be the 30-pin. Not sure on the lightening cable (newer one)
d) CD
if you need more info PM me

Never min DR. Ole lady's so pissed that this "cutting edge technology" MB won't accept her iPhone, she even told me to cancel Sirius LOL
She said she's going to sync her antique (circa 2009) ipod to her ipad, whatever the hell that means...
Thx for the offer bud

I phone
I have a 2015 ML 350 and my wife can uses the blue tooth and with the wire hook up into the console. If I have the radio playing all I do is hook my iPhone into the BLACK cord in the console and the radio automatically switches to my iPhone music. This black cord came with the car and has the wide connector with the smaller iPhone connector. The other connector is the one I can hook my iPhone in to charge.

And, madame hates using Bluetooth 'cause she can't scroll thru the songs. People dying all over the world due to war/famine etc, yet it seems that the biggest issue in my world is getting my gf's ipad to play media. BTW, my Galaxy S6 doesn't play media either, not that I give a damn.
BTW, your username drove me up a wall, couldn't figure out how to pronounce it. Finally figured it out a week or two ago.
Thanks for making me feel like an idiot LOL

Thx for the heads-up bud, but it no worky for the gf. She plugs it into the 30 pin adapter thingy and gets nothing. Only when she uses her antique ipod.
