Welcome New Members

As it often happens in midlife, we start chasing three things: a new body, a new car, and a new wife - not necessarily in that order. I started with the gym (body’s coming along), and the new wife option is permanently off the table. So… new car it is. 😎
I searched for months and initially focused on a GTS: darker exterior, light interior, 2018–2019 model. I wanted the Panamericana grille, analog gauges, and that gorgeous silver center console with eight round buttons. The console spec was non-negotiable.
Then I discovered the GTC with its wider rear, and that was it. Found one out of state with extremely low miles, flew out to see it, and bought it on the spot.
It’s a fully loaded 2018 GTC Roadster:
- Carbon ceramic brakes
- Carbon interior + exterior packages
- Selenite Silver Metallic paint, Macchiato leather
Every option checked except matte paint. Simply stunning.
The previous owner was a gem. The car is over seven years old but looks brand new, under 10k miles, perfect paint and interior, full MB service records. Even the interior cover in the trunk looks like it’s been used well. Car doesn’t show any UV exposure.
I plan to treasure this masterpiece for a long time and treat it as fittingly as the first owner did. First thing I did was PPF + ceramic coating the moment it came off the transporter.
Still learning the car’s dimensions and diving into the Mercedes/AMG world. Funny thing, I’ve followed F1 and Hamilton for years, yet never had this car on my radar until just recently.
Highlights so far:
- That engine response, instant and quick gear changes
- The exhaust (added ASR valve controller as soon as shipping came from Germany) raw, borderline vulgar… scares the kids 😅
- Flat cornering, serious ceramic braking power
- The uniqueness of this car, never seen one around, everyone who wants a nice car around here has a Porsche, wanted something different
- Analog gauges + buttons, feels refreshingly mechanical in 2025, love it!
Since buying it, I even added a weather radar app to my home screen. Roadster stays topless on all drives, exhaust sounds even better! I’m constantly finding excuses to drive.
I keep telling my kids: objects are not supposed to make people happy… except maybe this one in our garage. Happiness is a choice. Small things.
Would love to hear from other GTC Roadster, AMG, MB owners, anything I should look out for or any must-do mods?

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

This is the second MB i have owned. The first was a leased 2006 Ml350, thank god I leased it. The new one is a used 2012 e350. Just got it and its got 107K on the clock so i have changed the oil filter air filter and flushed the brake fluid. I do most of my own work but I'm a newby to German engineering. So far just a couple of different tools such as E sockets but otherwise pretty much the same. I'm hoping that the forum members will be patient with me and can help me with my basic questions. I'm old and crusty but am willing to learn.
I was recently gifted a 2016 E250 Bluetek because my 80 year old father wanted a new car. I've already grabbed myself a @BenzNinja USA membership (thank you @JettaRed ) and am working my way towards the vehicle's first oil change. This is my first foreign car and my first diesel engine so I'm looking forward to learning the ins and outs of MB ownership.
