1999 E320 wagon
Who reads the new forum?

Hello all, I'm a new member and a new owner. So far I've found these forums most enlightening as I educate myself on my new car. I'm no mechanic by any means but I know enough to be dangerous. I have some lovely care repair stories and I can already see that this new car is going to add to them.

About two weeks ago I bought a used 1999 E320 4matic wagon to replace my rapidly deteriorating 97 Subaru outback. I live in New England and these Subarus are all the rage here. It's been a solid car, but they tend to blow head gaskets on the regular and since I've been lucky, I didn't want to temp fate with another one.

While hunting craisglist I found a handsome devil of a car with low miles for the age, 130k, and it was almost entirely rust free, engine sounded good and I'm *usually* decent at picking used cars by gut. Well, I might have gotten my first bad used car, who knows. But I feel in love with the guy and named him Alfred. Now I'm in trouble. I think I'm ruined for life on other cars.
