New Member - Hopeful New Benz Owner
Hello, new mbworld member here, and I joined for a number of reasons. I've owned quite a few vehicles, but up until now it's either been american or japanese. Having gone through a number of Fords, then hondas and toyotas. For the first time however I've been seriously considering picking up a used MB.
There's a couple in my local area that I've been considering, though I should probably save the details of that for the more appropriate threads. I wanted to reach out to people more familiar with the brand before I buy, find out the things I should watch out for in an older MB. Quirks, maintenance recommendations, and just tips and hints before I jump into it.
I've been doing a lot of research on my own, but in my experience forums are some of the best resources out there. I look forward to being a member here, and hopefully I'll be picking up my first Benz here in a few days.

Currently I'm deciding between two cars. Right now there's an 04 clk55 amg for about 12k, with 90ish thousand miles, silver with black interior. It's mechanically sound, though it has been lowered which I'm not a huge fan of.

On the other hand there's an 03 cl55, for 15k, with 62k miles, silver with light interior. Has all the maintenance records.

Overall I think the cl55 is the better deal, but I have some reservations. To me the naturally aspirated clk is appealing for its simplicity, less stuff to go wrong, and easier to fix if it does.
Does anyone have experience or insight into these vehicles, or engines? The reliability of either? Just looking for anyone's input or opinions on this. Thanks.
