Research & Shopping (new vs CPO).

The wife and I are considering a GLK250 BlueTec, but we aren’t sure which direction to go (new or used). If we go used it will be a CPO 2014 model. I have owned a couple older Mercedes when stationed in Germany in the 1990’s, but never a new one or in the USA. The vehicle will be used by my wife as a daily driver, she is about to return to school for a year, then will be working at a nurse.
Used prices range from $36k – 41k for a CPO (depending on mileage). $34k - $38 seems like an appropriate price range.
New price as currently listed by dealer is $49k (Premium 1 package, lane keeping assist). Based on Truecar and other research, I could hope to pay around $47k for the new (maybe slightly less).
So it looks like a 10-13k difference for new over used CPO. What differences in the ownership experience between new and used might I expect and it is significant enough to warrant the $10-13k? What kind of extras might be possible or negotiated into a new MB purchase (service, extended warranty, etc)? The local dealer has new units, but I would have an hour or so to see used CPO units.
Any advice of information is appreciated.
Thanks,
OJ
