A new R320 owner
So, there we were with a desire to simplify, and a worn out F350 with 275,000 miles, and a worn out Prius with 209,000 miles. The wife still loves her Prius, but if I was going to get rid of my truck(I have had a pickup truck since I was 15) I wanted something that fit in between the truck and the prius and would last. I had been looking at 2005 E320 CDIs for a long time, and the wife finally got sick of me talking about. Go Buy one, she declared.
Well while at a book release for a friend out in Pasadena she asked why we didn't get an E class wagon. I said the CDI E class wagons weren't really available in the US. So I went and looked anyway and discovered the R.
We left Pasadena and went to look at a 2009 R320 Bluetec. I LOVED it. It was the diesel I wanted(needed), it was roomy, it was good looking. So after some calls and some calculations we took the worn out Prius and the worn out F350, and yes I will miss both of them, and traded them in on my new battle wagon.
I'm still doing research, since I am an engineer that's a given. I have some cables ordered to get my iPhone working, and I think I have the SERIOUSLY complicated Comand system figured out. Still finding little things that make me happy, and the 27MPG I have been getting driving it to work is great.
So, that's the story. I have been on several auto forums over the years, and since I am now a member of this owners club I thought I should introduce myself. I'll have pics soon.
