Oh, crap. I bought another German car.
Picked up my first Benz this evening, a slightly used 2013 C300 Sport 4Matic with less than 24K miles on it. Been looking at these for a while, and was back and forth between this and the 328ix/335ix and the A4Q.
Decided the slightly larger C was the best bet for the occasional client trip, and given the saturation of these in the market, it could be had for far less than the Bimmer or Audi.
Being as its evening, I will post pics later, but silver w/black MBTex, aluminum interior trim, and Becker Map Pilot. None of the lane departure, blind spot monitors, etc. Nearly bought a 2013 that had all of that and more with the AMG Sport package, but the thing had been a smoker's car and I wouldn't have been able to properly de-scent the synthetic suede on a good day. Still, that thing was pretty slick.
So, as it stands, I'm headed into uncharted waters with an MBz.
Mods will be kept to a very distinct minimum. I would like to add a backup cam but I have to do more research. A remote start for those cold mornings will be down the road, too. I doubt I'll change out wheels, but when it comes time for a brake job, I'll likely go OEM plus.
Cheers!
If I didn't have to take clients out to show them houses from time to time and this was more of a toy, rest assured it would be getting some sort of go-fast, stop quicker, and handle better toys. I could see swapping the factory wheels for something from the AMG catalog down the road and putting winter rubber on them.
I've alway been an OEM plus kind of guy. My last few cars and trucks have always been modded to improve upon the OEM but not go nuts. Well, maybe the MkIV Jetta. But that was an auto-x toy on the weekends, in addition to daily driver.
Now an ECU flash... that could happen soon.
