2014 CLS63 S
New member Australia

Hello,

I'm Steve from Australia. I recently purchased a 2014 CLS63S Shooting Brake. It replaces my 2010 Audi RS6 (the twin turbo V10) which was written off recently.

I'm hoping to tune the CLS once I'm through most of the warranty period.

Look forwards to using the forum!

Pumpkinate,

Welcome to the forum! How do you like the CLS63 vs the RS6?

Thanks guys.

I've only had it a few days. Here are pics from when it was at the dealership. I've got to say that the shooting brake looks way better in person than in the pics.

Comparing it to the V10 RS6 (as far as I can after a few days):

The CLS:
-sounds better
-has a bit more personality
-more luxurious
-possibly more fun to drive (except the accelerator pedal response)
-has way more electronic gadgets (that reflects car evolution over 4 years)

The RS6:
-faster (I am comparing a tuned RS6 vs stock CLS63S and in Australia the CLS63 is RWD only)
-way better accelerator response, breath on the pedal and you get instant acceleration.

In fact, the last point is my major annoyance with the CLS, the CLS has a spongy, non-connected accelerator feel. There seems to be a delay in the message getting to the engine and then the response also feels non-linear. But then it's very early days to judge it.

Welcome to MBWorld, Steve! What a great looking MB. I'm very curious about this Forster you have with a Cosworth engine. Have any pictures of it? (I drive an STi). :P

Thanks Luccia,
My Forester looks quite standard except for a slightly enlarged exhaust. It has the Cosworth STI engine block and internals (I think used in rally cars), oversized turbo, catless downpipe, tuned with launch control etc. It's quite a good "sleeper" in that noone notices it. It will easily outrun a STI, in fact it outran my friends tuned STI.

Very nice. My dream build is doing a fully built Cosworth motor. Sleepers though, those type of builds are the best.
