2000 Mercedes S430
Glad to be a part of this forum!
Hello Everyone! I just joined, so I am not too aware of all the topics within this site. However, I wanted to pick your brains to see if anyone can help.
I recently bought a 2000 S430 with 170000 miles. For the age and mileage, the vehicle still feels like new. Amazing piece of engineering!
The most recent issue that I have had, is this:
1. Replaced my rear brake pads and rotors.
* Once this was done, I began to hear a slight rubbing noise coming from the pass rear wheel area. The noise changed with speed, but no difference with brake pressure. At first I thought backing plate, but checked and not the case.
After further inspection, I think that I may have nailed it down to the wheel bearing.
My question....is there anything special I should know about replacing this part before I tear into it? Also, what would everyone recommend as a suitable replacement brand?
I am very mechanically inclined, but never actually tore into a foreign vehicle.
Any thoughts? Advice?
Thanks in advance, Mike.

Thanks for the link! I will definitely post pictures of the job once it is underway. It may take a bit to come up with the time to actually sit down and get this done. So far, from what i have read, this seems like a very straightforward job.
Sound right??

Thanks Erik. Like I mentioned, the mechanical part does not scare me. I feel that my mechanical expertise should be able to get me through this, it is just making sure that I don't get halfway through, and run into an issue unforeseeable and then have to scramble quick and pay a boatload to come up with a solution.
