She bit me in the showroom...
Hey everyone,
This is my first post… Last October I was shopping for a new car, well for the last 3 years I have been looking but nothing got my attention. I visited the local Mercedes dealerships, Jaguar and while I was there I checked Land Rover too. I’m not a fan of BMW whatsoever and I even checked Subaru, yeah Subaru, I was looking for a WRX STI to have fun with as a daily driver. A Maserati Quattroporte was also an option but that meant driving 2-3 or 5 hours away to look at them and the same for servicing.
Now every time I went to Subaru, the STI’s were always sold before I got to see them. I was looking for an exciting car to drive, something wild that would raise my pulse while still being a 4 door because as my wife would say, not another 2 door car, we can’t bring the girls with us (2 girls, one is almost 8 and the other is 10 years old). My daughters love cars too and riding with Dad. Before snow came last year, I drove a C63 AMG with my youngest daughter and what a rush, the car was exciting and I loved the lines. My daughter was in the car when the salesman brought it out and she smiled from ear to ear looking at me when she heard the engine sound… But being a daily driver, only having RWD bothered me. It meant I had to keep my full size Sierra Crew Cab truck for heavy snow and I wasn’t interested in having 3 vehicles and my wife’s SUV.
So I was back to the drawing board. My wife is simple and not a materialistic person and to her a vehicle (car, truck or SUV), if it looks nice, she’s ok with it. But me, I love driving, cars are a passion for me, it has to excite me every time I look at it, and drive me nuts when I drive it.
So off to Mercedes again before Christmas and still couldn’t decide on what model. I wanted the C63 power but really liked the look of the CLS550. I checked off the C63 because of RWD and started working on finding a nice CLS550. The first dealership I had visited had a white one in stock (new) and a regular black color one (2012 or 2014 I think, I don’t remember). I hate both colors so that turned me off, I wanted a silver one. I went to another MB dealership and saw a nice one in a magnetite black that looked brown/purple in sun light with a saddle brown interior and WOW she was nice. But the salesman wasn’t really in the mood to deal the car. I asked him 3 times, pull me some numbers and let’s talk but he kept saying $3200 off the car and it didn’t seem like he was interested to talk to me so I left. A few days later I went back to the other place with the white and Obsidian black one and told him I had seen one at another dealership. So he said what were the options in it (I had the paper listing everything in it with the MSRP price) and he built one and said if he could get the car from them, he would give me more than double off with winter tires. So we dealt and all was written up and only thing left was getting the car over from the other dealership. The other dealership refused to transfer the car so the deal fell through. So I was kind of bummed out and went back reading more about other Benz models. Right before Christmas, I received a hand written Christmas card from the salesman (Stephane) of the dealership who gave me the awesome deal. Now 3 dealerships all had my mailing and email info but he was the only one who took the effort to send me something. So I decided to go see him first when I would go back.
Over 2 months went by and I had been looking at the C450 AMG 4matic and decided to go see Stephane to look at a few of them and maybe get another good deal and hopefully buy one. I walked in and there she was…. This beautiful sexy beast that had just arrived, Iridium Silver, black front bumper scoops, black 10 spoke wheels, black mirrors, black window trims and a black roof… I felt like Jack Nicholson, the joker in Batman when he saw Vicky Vale for the first time… STOP THE PRESS, WHO IS THAT?!?!?! WHAT MERCEDES-BENZ IS THAT???? I walked towards it and on the side I see V8 BITURBO, as I walk to the rear I see E63 sAMG. I speak to my salesman and he says yeah, it’s a 2016 E63 sAMG, the same size as the CLS 550 you were looking at but this is a beast with crazy power. We just got it 2 weeks ago and it’s only been in the showroom a week. So he starts talking about the performance specs of the car and I LOSE it… So here I am, writing my story about how I bought my first Benz that just happens to be an AMG too.
