New to Forum. Just recently acquired a 2003 MB S500 4 MATIC. As luck would have it air suspension went out. No certified MB dealers/Mechanics within 75 Miles. So doing my own diagnostics and repair via internet and advice from owners. Will be posting questions in the forum for advice and if any reader here has advice to offer I will listen intently. Please provide answers at the Neanderthal level of understanding - my comprehension level is about
and
and to get through to me sometimes requires
.My problem: Air Compressor red warning light advised do not drive - after I took the Mercedes to a reliable mechanic to check green warning light status. Returned Mercedes to my home problem unsolved. Checked system and found broken lead to compressor solenoid. repaired lead with pigtail. Tested system no change red warning still active no compressor action.
Removed compressor and bench test with 12 voly probe showed severe air leakage. Replaced with new compressor (Wabcor P 2192) and replace Relay O and 40 Amp fuse.
Tested - no compressor action. performed continuity and voltage check. Continuity relay sockets 87 and 30. Voltage 12 volts relay pins sockets 85-86. Tested compressor solenoid plug 6 v (not 12). Ran ignition on test with relay sockets 85 and 86 jumped - compressor motor ran. But with relay in no air suspension.
Advice please.
